[QUOTE="lv20gt, post: 476349, member: 2299"] When Jose sits I think Phillips will be the one who comes in due to better ball handling and defense. In general I think that most of the minutes you are seeing Alston as getting are more likely to go to Phillips. Phillips had a reputation as a great defender and from what I have seen shows more ball skills than Alston. I think he will get almost all the minutes when Jose or Devoe are sitting. That leaves Alston fighting it out for minutes at the 3 spot where I would think Haywood would pretty much have it locked down. Even if it's just Alston competing with the fr at the 3 spot for back up minutes I don't really see what advantage he brings. A big issue is that he's just a real weak rebounder, an average at best defender, and a too passive offensive player. Other role players would have things like "can come in as a lock down defender " or "can provide another reliable shooter" or "can really get after the boards". Alston doesn't have anything like that and I think the argument that he has "experience" is basically just "he's 23". I think his skillset of being a guy who is less likely to make mistakes and can hit his FTs means he'll be used in end game situations. I'm sure he'll get some burn when things go wrong, like foul trouble/injuries/etc, but in general I just don't see him getting much time come ACC play once Sjolund and Moore have a chance to settle in and the staff can figure out the best way to take advantage of what they offer.
