2017 Wake = 2012 MTSU?

Got to say that I'm a little worried about this week's game against Wake. This is eerily similar to the 2012 matchup against MTSU. In 2012, we had an OT loss against VT to start the season, rolled over a couple opponents, then a soul crushing OT loss to Miami after leading by 14 in the 4th quarter. Sound familiar? We then promptly felt so sorry for ourselves that we laid an egg against an inferior opponent.

Here's hoping that CPJ and company can flush the loss and beat the crap out of the Deacons!

One parallel that I hope continues from 2012: We played in the ACC Championship game. Let's do that again!

Could happen for sure...Wake is way better than MTSU was though.

The only reason I'd say no is that we are by no means out of the division race yet. It's pretty doubtful we'll win it, but here are the conference records of the coastal division winners over time...four of the last five had at least two conference losses. I doubt we lose focus this week...especially at home in a night game. That's where we tend to shine.

2016 - VT - 6-2
2015 - UNC - 8-0 (Wow, I didn't realize they won all their conference games in 2015...crazy)
2014 - GT - 6-2
2013 - Duke - 6-2
2012 - GT/Miami/UNC - 5-3
2011 - VT - 7-1
2010 - VT - 8-0
2009 - GT - 7-1
2008 - VT/GT - 5-3
2007 - VT - 7-1
2006 - GT - 7-1
2005 - VT - 7-1

Absolutely not. Wake is solid, but I think it will be something like a 31-17 win for us. We're just too talented to lose to Wake by 21.

Haha, I'm hoping it will be a reverse jinx type of thing.
