We need Wacie and Luke back for their shooting. Then maybe we really have turned the corner.

Good crowd all things considered. String a few ACC wins together and maybe we can get some home court advantage going!

Hate to say it but if these 2 events didn't get the crowd standing and making noise for the ensuing defensive possession then we are probably a fanbase beyond saving with regards to home court advantage.

was at game

they did. It mightve not sounded like peak thrillerdome on TV because it wasn’t (though it was over half full for sure) but it got pretty loud.

Happy New Year everyone. Nice way to start it. But we do need to work on swarm poster silence from tipoff to final buzzer. That AUFC halftime shoutout mixed vibe was a little unnerving.

You should join us for road games in https://gtswarm.com/chat/ - we usually have a solid crew in there. The home games are a little quieter typically as most folks are in McCamish.

Lol. Have enough distractions around me when trying to watch a game. And keeping arteries from bursting requires significant self-control with this team. A chat room during GTMBB would never work for me. Will leave that to you young folk.

Really good game by the yellow jackets today. It was great to be back in McCamish after missing a couple of games for kids’ sports. It was good to see @ramblinjacket and some other McCamish regulars.

After the game, CDS said he thought the first half today might be the best half of defense and offense that the team has played during his time here, and I agree. I’m not sure what all changed in the 2nd half when ND really got things going on offense. Thankfully though, GT didn’t fold under pressure this time when the opposition made a strong run. GT dug in, fought back, and finished stronger than ND.

If I get a chance I might rewatch the game to see if ND was doing anything different in the 2nd half. It could be that our guys just got tired from chasing ND and fighting through their screens. Regardless, great win. Hope the team can stack up a few more in a row.

Used to chat during games on FTRS. But as I get older I find it distracting. Multi-tasking is a myth. 😊

Dang, had the game on the app for a few minutes while driving home but forgot to turn back on after running errands. thanks for the condensed game above. As everyone else has said, hopefully this starts a run. They look to be gelling a bit still looked like some big defense lapses when they had a big lead

Also, I ran into Tadric Jackson during halftime in the concourse. I had a nice chat with him. He was very friendly, and I was happy to have the chance to chat with him and hear a little about his life after GT. He was a great ambassador for GT. I wish him all the best going forward. My 11yo son, who didn’t know who Tadric was, was thrilled that we got to talk with a former player.

Who is this Duncan Powell guy and why haven’t we heard from him before?
Long story & longer road. Texas kid. He was an ESPN 4* & committed to Musselman at Arkansas as a 16 yo. Might have become a 5*. Bad HS injury. Says he decommitted, but sounds like he was no longer welcomed with a fk’d up knee. Had family connections at NCA&T, but more injuries there. San Diego got him playing again with glimpses of what a 4* can do. CDS research got him interested. Visit sealed deal for both. And this is only his Junior year. Looks like hard work & never give up kind of kid. Cudos to him & CDS for finding him. Just giving some stuff I found when he first committed and nobody had heard of him. He’s not under anyone’s radar anymore.

Missing Baye most of the second half didn’t help. Their #7 had his way the entire half.

I knew a little about him but wondered why I completely missed his potential. I guess CDS knows more about basketball talent than I do.

Ndongo got in foul trouble in 2nd half.

This was a really solid win, and you can see the progress gained from the last game carry over to this one. ND gave us all they had in the second half and we responded, which is a really good sign that this team hasn't given up. They are starting to remind me of some of Pastner's teams that, for whatever reason, didn't hit their stride until late in the season (usually too late, which is probably the case with this team, but we will see). Here are some thoughts:

What I liked:
-I am so thankful that McCollum wasn't hurt badly in that last game. He continued his good play here and it gives our team such a confidence boost. He really is that guy--the guy that can get a bucket anytime we need it and stop the scoring droughts that we often find ourselves in. He might not score 21 a night, but his influence the last two games has been huge.
-We finally cut down on the TOs! Yay! Only 8 this game.
-The defense maintained the intensity for most of the game. I do think we got a little tired and lazy in the second half chasing their shooters, but overall, the effort we have seen in spurts is starting to come more consistently.
-Big shoutout to Duncan Powell. With Reeves and O'Brien on the bench, we absolutely need him to hustle, hit threes, and do some dirty work under the basket. He came through in a big way.

What I didn't like:
-Ndongo's inconsistency. Foolish fouls and turnovers. He can still be a force inside, but the other stuff really needs to stop. He is a better player than what he is showing right now. I do see now that DO was a better inside partner than Souare or Mutumbo, but Baye needs to play smart for us to make any kind of run. He is so talented.
-14 ORebs for ND and 15 second chance points is too many, but I am being nit-picky.

This is the kind of game we have needed for the last two months. Energy and intensity on defense, good shot selection and more motion on offense=winning basketball. Let's keep it up! Go Jackets!
