Also Big O is my favorite player on this team. The three block possession in the first half had me up and yelling at the screen. He’s gonna be a good one. You can see the flashes, just needs to develop that nasty streak and keep improving
No doubt... Feeling more confident than ever about DO! He doesn't play like a freshman and I really believe that he will get better offensively.

He never smiles... Straight business!

Just wait until CDS gets his own player son this team….
This is the type of **** that drives me nuts.. You are someone who has publicly admitted that you're checked out and don't really pay attention.

You really have no idea about who/why/what is going on with the team (other than what you read here), and here you are with pot-shots.

Take that lame **** elsewhere. Seriously...What does this add to the conversation?

Team showed flashes of brilliance. It's early in the season and we played a formidable opponent. I'm not hitting the panic button JUST yet.

The team's play in the first half was their best defensive effort that I recall seeing from a CDS GT team.

Once it was clear to Oklahoma that Baye was no threat, they clamped down on the perimeter and the offense really stagnated. Why don't we try to get Onwuchekwa some inside looks?

Oklahoma outscored GT by 15 from the three and by 14 from the stripe. We actually held them to 38.6% from the floor which is pretty good.

But there is a lack of cohesion from the team on the offensive end. Some of it is personnel. Some of it is not. Still looking for some coherent identity on offense. But the pieces are not coming together in a complimentary way.

Baye left his game in his Freshman year.

Mustang looks like a serious kid. Needs to penetrate and deal and hit the boards.

This is erily similar to when Jose was a fr and how the team grew each season. The pieces are being collected let's see this through until Naits Sr yr before rushing to any judgment. CDS is learning some lessons just like CBK has and we see how that is projecting.

The lessons this year are going to be tough. I am guessing the over under total for the year would now be set at 11.5. I see absolutely no way this team is .500. Starting to wonder, as we sit here in year 2 if we made a mistake...... time will tell and it's too early, but, when you compare GT to some of the cow colleges (Auburn, Clemson, ugag, Miss St., Iowa) one has to start scratching your head about Gt's place in MBB

We looked really good the first 12 to 16 minutes of the game.
Foul trouble, and then not being able to make a basket for about 12 minutes of game time, plus too many "dumb" fouls and Oklahoma's ability to hit free throws was just too much to overcome.
Not having McCollum and Reeves also hurt by not being able to give some minutes.

On to UNC.

I don't know that last night's victory had anything to do with Porter Moser and/or his coaching prowess vs. Damon's.

I think that it is much simpler than that... Last night boils down to two things:

  • Baye's Disappearing Act - WE NEED MORE FROM BAYE. He's gotta be our best player..If you told me we get 4/4 from him before the game, I say it's a definite L.
  • Injuries / Shortened Rotation - We ran out of gas; the short bench / fatigue caught up with our guards. As Damon mentioned in the post-game, Nait and Lance have been playing too many minutes.

Additionally, they just faced one of the better backcourts in the country, and they had to work much harder on the defensive end.

Bottom line, they ran out of gas.

I need to refresh on basketball coach contract trends but Stoudamire's contract runs through 2027-28, so I would suspect Batt needs to extend him by the end of 2025-26 or cut ties. If we wanted this experiment to last minimum 4 years, he should have been given a 6 year contract. The buyout shrinks considerably after this season. All this to say, we might need to make a judgment call on CDS before Nait's senior year.

I'd also acknowledge here that with recent portal/NIL trends that you can probably coach a team with 1 or 2 years left on your contract these days and have no struggles pulling in grad transfers and upperclassmen transfers. Not good for any type of old school get-old-stay-old strategy though.

You had to have come out of that game more optimistic than you’ve been all season. I really like the young core we’re putting together. Baye will be fine, he’s too talented not to be. Terry is definitely a do-it-all player on offense. We need Reeves and O’Brien to be consistent catch and shoot threats to really open up the offense.
