Certainly there was at least one foul called against him last night that was complete bs. He was just standing still, arms straight up, didn’t even leave his feet, and a much smaller Texas southern offensive player jumped into his body and got the foul call. DO did exactly what you teach a low post defender to do and the ref botched the call and bailed out the Texas southern player.
I don't know the specific play but IF DO was inside the charge circle then you have to jump with your arms straight up. Not jumping is an automatic charge inside the circle - if that is where it was.

Good point. I actually didn’t pay attention to whether DO was in the restricted area or not. But, i don’t think it mattered in this case. I don’t think your understanding of the charge/block rules inside the restricted area are necessarily correct. First, I don’t think you meant automatic charge (on the offensive player). I think you meant automatic blocking foul (on the defender). Regardless, I admit to not having full knowledge of that particular rule, but for example, I think it only applies to a secondary defender attempting to draw a charge on an advancing player. I don’t think it applies to a primary defender. Either way, not a huge deal, it was just one play in a game that was already decided.

I wasn't sure if Texas State was playing basketball or murderball for a while there. Our guys sure had a lot of patience putting up with their trash play.

Anyhow, the good guys won, Nait was Great, Doryan is a BIG dude, Kowacie is going to stuff the stat sheets (but needs to be more efficient shooting), Ndongo is gonna do what Ndongo always does.

Now let's play some high level ball and beat the f#$& out of UGA.

They are not afraid to put you on the line. There was a comment on the broadcast saying they had averaged giving up an average of 40 free throws per game in their 2 losses. Right after that comment, the rough play picked up including 2 flagrant 1's where we got free throws and possession. I looked it up. Xavier had 41 free throws. UGA had 39. We "only " had 34.

DO was inside the circle. Both feet fully inside the line.

They are definitely prone to foul. Based on what I heard Andy Demetra say in the pregame show and the results of our game, through 4 games I think their opponents have taken 55 more free throws than they have.

You are right about writing charge and meaning block :banghead: I am blaming my fingers and not my aging brain

FWIW I was simply struck by your comment about even keeping his feet on the ground and there are times when that actually makes it a foul. Again I didn’t see the end of the game and I don’t know the specific incident you’re talking about.

I thought this would be the NF result also but nope . Got a ways to go on tough def and DEF rebounding(they had 14 Off Rebs). I am glad we were hiting 3s as the pts in paint were low. Lotsof Fts though.

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention one thing that I really didn’t like…the attendance. Soooooo many empty seats. Can we not give away free tickets to local high school basketball teams or something just to fill the place? It’s embarrassing and has to be a bummer for the team, too.
I thought the same too and student attendance is very low. I don’t know if CDS gets out and tries to promote attendance. But also then I realized when I got home that we were also competing against KU, MSU, UK, Duke at State Farm arena. So definitely no casual fans would be attending.
