Tech is shooting 5/22 from beyond the arc. But 17/46 overall. So 50% from inside.

Why do we keep heaving up 3’s?. FSU is up 65-55.
Because that’s the crappy style of basketball that all of these kids have been coached to play these days. Gotta love the “5 out” concept 🙄

On a separate note, FSU honored Hugh Durham (in attendance). He coached FSU to the 1972 Final 4. Title game

Ball actually moved pretty well in the 2nd half - we had some nice sets and got great looks, so we can score on good defenses. Unfortunately as soon as something goes wrong, the team seems to have all their priors confirmed and decides that's it for the day. Not too dissimilar from TFG's teams.

When the game got close late, Nait jacked up an outrageously bad shot early in the shot clock, then gave up an and-1 in transition and that was all she wrote.
He had already done the exact same thing earlier in the game as well. Gave up multiple baskets on bad transition defense too, and gave away possessions with the stupid lob passes. Not a good day.

Disappointing game again. People can criticize CDS for the design of the offense, but the team is battling an absurd number of injuries. As a result, we have a short bench and it is difficult to develop any rhythm and chemistry. To CDS’s and the players’ credit, the team hasn’t quit and, despite the way the season has gone, he does seem to be bringing in an excellent class next season. The rest of this season and next year should define the direction of the program. Go Jackets!

After watching this game, it seems to me that after 2 years of CDS recruiting with NIL money, our best player on the court was a Pastner left over. 😀

We go inside too much, leading to blocked and missed shots. Good teams do not shoot 3-15 footers. Good teams only shoot 3s and layups.
Don’t be a sucker for the crap you hear on tv. Plus, how do you think you get “layups” without going inside. Any team that would actually emphasize and make 2 pointers could absolutely make hay in todays college game.

We're a mess right now. It is hard to tell where inadequate talent ends and where lack of solid concept begins. There is not a single thing that we seem to try to do that represents a foundation off of which to build something. Too me it looks like a loose jumble of weak decisions, inadequate effort, poor confidence, and where our players are being spun around by opposing players who know what they are doing better than our guys. Body language of some of our guys has been poor in our recent skid.

Daquan Davis stuck it to us pretty good, like he had a bone to pick.

Right…Actually several good teams today are doing it.
Top 20 match up of Purdue and Oregon had an awful lot of good post play and midrange jumpers this afternoon.
Analytics and announcers be damned…

The ONLY good thing to say about last night was they didn't quit.Almost unbelievable that we got only THREE Fgs from our 2 bigs last night for the whole game.(Souare in the last 2 games in 48 mins of play has had ONE! FG) .Speaking of inside problems--they got 44 pts in the paint.
So we live and die by the 3 pt shot.Almost no way to win that way unless you have no TOs and lock-down DEF. Good luck with that.

Problems in the paint have been apparent all year. I warned about the need for a true 5 early in the year when it became apparent teams would out muscle us inside. I love Ndongo, but he can't do it alone. He is a great 4 and gives 100%.

A lot of us have been jumping up and down about the need for a true 5 since last year. Even as I pointed to the teams that made it to the final four last year some on here were still chanting five out is the future of basketball.

I think CDS has repeatedly tried to address this need and hasn’t given up on finding a big who can stick with the program and develop.

That’s one of the primary effects of fatigue. Guys playing 37-38 mins, game after game, when they should be playing 28-30 (in most cases). Bad decision making / shot selection, bodies breakdown, execution drops, communication drops, frustration grows, etc.

I’ll leave it at that. I’m not willing to put it all on injuries, but two guys who were projected starters (and leaders) have missed half the season or more. That is not insignificant, and everyone just breezes past it like “Wacie only averaged 9ppg”. Yeah, but he was a clear leader, good defender, and always brought effort. Losing him has been tough.

I’ve been pretty consistent that I think there were/are energy/effort issues (seems to have improved albeit too late), and I think we have also had some chemistry issues to some extent in the locker room. Just a **** season, no two ways about it, but I don’t how you can judge Damon’s coaching ability based on this season.

But those of you with your pitchforks out, ya’ll go ahead and run him out of town so we can start back at square one, lose our recruits, and do this same thing again in 3-4 years.

It has been our biggest weakness all year. We expected Baye to be that guy, instead he was MIA for the first half of the season, and I feel like he has only recently started to play with real effort.

Doryan was supposed to be the 5 that got the majority of those minutes, 15-20 per game. He was a 4-star, top 150 recruit…Damon literally said he had a chance to be something special, and then he had a meltdown.

He was never going to be double-double guy as a freshman, but I felt like they were a lot closer to a solid 5 with him than I do today.

Souare brings energy and want-to, I appreciate that but he lacks size and he is easily moved off his spot, and he has no ability to score unless it’s a dunk.

I've thought that with better health, we could (have) played more up-tempo. It would help to mask our lack of a quality 5 on the offensive end, but injuries and chemistry have deflated our team.
Ultimately, I guess, if CDS wants to be a systems coach, kudos to him for sticking to the system. In that way, current players and recruits alike can envision how they fit in when it gets better. Not sure about the long term play, but CDS has my support in the short run.
