It's not like we haven't tried with OL. We brought in Jordan Brown and Scaglione as transfers this offseason. Last year it was Corey Robinson, Pierce Quick (who is no longer playing) and Paul Tchio. We also signed 5 freshmen. Like DT, it is a premium position that is prone to career ending...
Walton is obvious tampering. Just because he's a grad transfer doesn't mean that didn't happen. He was tweeting out being on board with our Techway NIL. Then, out of nowhere he went in the portal on the last day or last couple days of eligibility for that period.
The players that don't land anywhere are buried backups who were just dissatisfied and hoping to land somewhere they could play. That makes up a large bullk of the portal. When we're talking about tampering, we're talking about starters like McCollum and Walton, or Sam Hartmann from Wake...
He's been more productive than some guys we got on scholarship. But the gripe I'm hearing is he has an injury history, and we are tight on 'ships and being really picky in the portal now.
It'd be nice to get him, but looks like Auburn is ponying up the NIL for him-

Catch 22. Having UGA win a National Championship and Tech have 3 straight 3 win seasons has gotten some of the higher ups (President Cabrera) and money people off the schneid. CPJ was a victim of the fact he showed he could be 'good enough' with less money. If what needed to happen to...
Faulkner's Possession Efficiency (which takes out the SoS factor that caused his #10 ranked offense in YPG to somehow be the 92nd best offense by FEI in 2017) was 37, 36 and 54 at Ark State in his 3 years. I respect that FEI is a useful stat that digs further beyond raw averages, but when it...
We could have afforded Ellis. Key, in my opinion, probably looked at Ellis's experience and also felt that style of offense didn't fit his vision of the team. Georgia Southern was 41st in OFEI this year. Barbay at App State was 36th. So, yeah, I kind of think it is you are just stuck on a...
Spin it all you want, Techster. You don't have to proselytize the virtues of the air raid offense to me. GSU attempted 565 passes to 350 rushes. It's okay to be a fan of a certain kind of offense (air raid, option), but being in denial about the style of offense our HC prefers is another...
GSU was almost 2 to 1 pass. Look up the stats. There's a difference between a statistically 'good running game' and a balanced offense. I'm not saying Ellis wouldn't be a good hire, but Key made it pretty explicit he wanted a physical, not finesse team. He may have flirted with the idea of...
I think it's pretty obvious to infer that Key wants an offense that can be physical running the ball. Regardless of what the FEI numbers might say, the kind of pass-happy offense Ellis runs is not going to fit the team identity Key wants.
