The helmet that will save football. Or not?

True. None of us had millio -dollar contracts at stake and we new there were no scouts for NCAA teams watching, so we played without maximum intensity. NFL/NCAA player intensity changes everything. Maybe soft helmets, soft ground, no S&C programs, and nothing to play for are what's needed...

    The Culture is Real

Thanks for the patronizing response. Some people are too dumb to realize that we need to win games. Your reminder was very necessary and helpful.

Well, if rugby is #1 and football is #2, then is the solution is to stop letting men crash into each other? (n)

    The Culture is Real

My daughter - a 2008 GT grad and Midtown Atlanta resident - told me that this is the first year since she graduated that she is interested in season tickets. She LOVES the 404 marketing, the Instagram tags after turnovers, and whole positive vibe around making GT THE school to support in the...

The helmet that will save football. Or not?

When I played sandlot football as a kid, we had no equipment at all. I NEVER tackled with my head and I was never tackled by someone that put their head into me. We only used our shoulders, arms and hands, and protected our necks, noses, and heads. I think a helmet that offered LESS protection...

It is vital that we show that we can attract/recruit great talent under CGC. If we cannot recruit to get us to a higher level, and the previous scheme (which I think was really well coached) didn't get us there then I believe we are doomed to be mediocre. We need to ALL be rooting for CGC to...

    Georgia Postgame

I thought he was mediocre today. 60-yard kicks into the EZ when we needed a drop shot and pooch kicks when we needed a 60 yarder. I like him overall but today I thought he was overwhelmed or choked under pressure.

Our 2020 class has 3 OL so far that are a better fit for our O than what we have now. The talent of these young men is TBD but the direction we are going in is clear. Michael Rankins Lennard (Ruskin, FL) 6-5 / 285 0.8755 523 43 72 Commit 7/1/2019 OT Jordan Williams Gainesville...

    Disappointment

I don't understand what point you are making. Is the ONLY scheme available to neutralize a talent deficit is the TO? Are you saying that ONLY CPJ can succeed at GT? Every other offense is basically the same. This is a defining moment for GT. We tried a scheme-based solution to reduce the impact...

Is college football near the end as we know it.

Yes, but that doesn't necessarily provide a competitive advantage for ND. You only want to pay someone that can move the needle on the W/L record. At some point the bidding between school boosters would hit a ceiling on any 1 player and the losing school would move on to the next player...

Is college football near the end as we know it.

If you mean they would continue to funnel money under the table - yes, I think that would continue. My point goes more toward the net increase in the number of, and the amount of money players get paid due to this new law. I don't hear stories about non-5-star kids getting cars or cash. There...

Is college football near the end as we know it.

I disagree slightly because in order to pay money to one or more athletes, the donor has to: a) make a profit (e.g., a car dealership sells more cars); b) get a tax deduction (haven't seen this mentioned yet); or c) feel like throwing money at people with no return on investment solely to puff...

    Temple Post Game

The clip you show illustrates my point: he is a straight-line runner. The O-line in the clip opened a big hole and I said this year's OL can't do that. He has speed, but not enough to be effective with our current OL.

Even I would look fast if you tossed me the ball while running sideways to the defenders. Point me to a single play this year where either Mason or Howard cut outside and beat someone to the corner. I liked both a lot last year but they are not a fit this year, IMHO.

    Temple Post Game

My take on Mason & Howard is they are too slow to run outside and their strength is up the middle. Unfortunately our O-line can't block up the middle. These RB's were recruited as fullback/Bbacks and now don't have what we need at the position. I would play Griffin and Oliver at RB and get the...

    Clemson Postgame

With all due respect, I call BS when you say "we recruited just fine." We had no passing threat even when it was needed (i.e., when running the ball was not sufficient), we had slow linebackers, undersized DL, and WR that could not separate from CB's. Our W-L record was in decline. Our best...

Dabo did say that we confused them with some of our coverages so maybe there is credit owed to Thacker for scheme and D players for execution.

Umm, we needed to recruit better when we were doing something nobody else was doing. We were in a death spiral where recruiting was weak and the scheme couldn't overcome the disparity in talent. CPJ said early on during his time here that talent can overcome any scheme. He was right.
