  1. My way too early, possibly problematic look at potential GT Hoops roster management

Is GT likely to pay 7 figures to a BB player via an NIL collective? I have my doubts. RJ Davis is returning to UNC for a 5th year. His NIL money will likely be in the 7 figure range.
  2. My way too early, possibly problematic look at potential GT Hoops roster management

A lot depends on Ndongo coming back for another year. His skill set is unique on our roster.
  3. NCAA Makes Changes in Game Day Rules

    No it’s 15.
  4. NCAA Makes Changes in Game Day Rules

Actually the NFL shuts off communications when 15 seconds are left on the play clock or when the ball is snapped if the ball is snapped before the 15 second mark on the play clock.
  5. My way too early, possibly problematic look at potential GT Hoops roster management

The NCAA adopted the 3 point shot for the 1986-87 season so most of the 1980s was played without the 3 point shot. The ACC did experiment with it one season before the NCAA adopted the 3 point shot.
  6. My way too early, possibly problematic look at potential GT Hoops roster management

Truth. The ACC in the 1980s was simply great basketball. We all know about GT BB in the 1980s. UNC, Duke and NCST won National Championships. UVA mad a Final Four. Wake made an Elite Eight. Maryland made 7 straight NCAATs until the Len Bias death blew up Maryland sports. Even Clemson made...
  7. 2024 Football Portal

Good question. With all the transfers that could happen a good bit. I suspect the players now have their Playbooks on tablets and there is fairly tight control over the tablet. Still a clear possibility!
  8. Do academics mean anything anymore at college

GT is not going to voluntarily get off the College Sports Big Business Train. GT may get left off the train but it will not be by choice. The NCAA bears far more responsibility than you suggest they do. They made zero effort to make reasonable accommodations for compensating players for their...
  9. Who is more likely to be drafted: Kelly or Ndongo?

The NBA knows if a player can shoot. That isn’t their concern. Does he have the physical skills to defend is a bigger issue that the NBA guys will assess.
  10. Retaining Talent & Roster Management

I hope that is the case. I don’t feel confident it is the case. Last year it seemed very unlikely would gonPro as there are dozens of 6’5” to 6’7” players around that are very good. The number drops for guys 6’9” and taller.
  11. Who is more likely to be drafted: Kelly or Ndongo?

For Kelly how much better can he get in college vs playing pro ball somewhere?
  12. My way too early, possibly problematic look at potential GT Hoops roster management

Ndongo was the team’s most important player last season. His skill set is very hard to replace. I feel as you do on losing/keeping him. I think he is gone though I hope I am wrong
  13. Do academics mean anything anymore at college

The NFL is by far the best sport out there for entertainment. The salary cap makes it very difficult to build dynasties anymore and keeps the league competitive. For instance the NFC East has not had a repeat Champion since 2004. In a 4 team Division that is remarkable. Very unlike college...
  14. GT over/under 5.5 wins in 2024

100% about the defense. There needs to be a major improvement on defense or 7 games is the win ceiling.
  15. Offseason Media 2024

I suspect the players Chad mentioned will determine the success of the offense. The other guys will play if injuries pile up or not see meaningful action more than likely
  16. Retaining Talent & Roster Management

I would put his chances of going pro at above 50%. He has the physical size and ability to play at the pro level. He can refine any needed skills at the pro level more easily than in college. Hope he returns!
  17. Retaining Talent & Roster Management

I assume you mean Terry not Kelly. I will be shocked if McCullum isn’t a starter. I expect Ndongo and Reeves to start as well.
  18. Transfers out

Transfers are essential in today’s college basketball landscape. Try and find a very successful team that did not have at minimum one transfer who was a key player in their team’s success. It is all about the fit and relationship between the transferring player and the new school, Coach...
