Not many coaches wanted to replace Collins NFL friendly offense... because GT is not a place you go to build your reputation (due to more risk)
The big donors most likely did the same thing they did this time (as well as with Roof)... pushed Collins because he is a "Tech guy". Stan just rolled...
CPJ was cheap and very money efficient on wins per dollar. Stan wanted CPJ to stay another year because there was no "real" money. Stan had no way out of Collins because of the money to fire him and the money to replace him. Now we hire on the cheap, Key. No buyout to hire and hopefully a very...

Not even close to Collins. Tulane did not decrease in performance. They doubled their yearly wins. I agree that it’s hard to be excited about the record even though Fritz doubled their win percentage.
You could say Fritz decreased GSU performance, but not including their jump up in...
Yes the hard number is not good, but not bad. Yet, in an underfunded program not able to win more than 2 or 3 games… the number is significantly hirer.
I don’t like the number too, yet turning water into wine is already taken.
Can’t help but wonder if Fritos OC change this year made the...
This… not the flash of Chadwell in wins or the number of team rebuilds. Is he better than Key? All that can really be said is that he is a HC that kept an underfunded team going and got a great year at the end.
The donors gave us Roof and Collins… It will be interesting to see how Key plays out. We need more data for the fan base to see what kind of program GT is beyond the offense GT plays.
I laugh (or otherwise I would cry). People were so ready to get rid of CPJ not knowing no one doing great things wanted the job at GT. But, hopefully I am wrong and someone doing great things will be our next coach. Or, Key will turn out amazing. Heck, I saw a post that said they were hopeful...
I'm at a point that if someone does well enough that they later bolt, let them. At least we had some good football.
No one creates football schemes from scratch. If he borrowed a good idea, that is a good thing. But, I do believe him that he has tried a lot and this is what he developed. I also...
BoB is stabilize and safe. I believe he will run the program like a NFL offense. Play not to lose. He was perfect for Penn in its weakened state. Even then, BoB dealt with the front side of the sanctions and not the back side. Starting a 65 scholorship reduction is better than dealing with 4...
I have no clue how a NFL coach or a coach use to having all they want will do in a challenging environment, with students that have to do school, with players that have not matured, players that need development.
I prefer risk than safe as GT does not have equal fire power.
But BOB has better...
LOL, this is not about Collins, but what an average coach could do with Collins recruits. Collins was suppose to be GTs great recruiter.
But, yes, had I been a Collins cheerleader, I would want people to move along too.
