  1. 2023-2024 ROSTER???

I’ve peppered various thread with kind of high level, maybe interesting but not actually explanatory or predictive type stat-y posts and figured … why stop now? Here’s 2pt% in conference play from last season for the core 11 (obviously, for most transfers, that’s not the ACC): Claude 51.3, (acc...
  2. 2023-2024 ROSTER???

Rambling, that’s my thinking too, more or less. I also think CDS may have emphasized winning the possession game over efficiency at UoP - I half expect a move toward dual combo guard backcourts and front courts that hit the boards (though I don’t think we’ve seen that yet).
  3. 2023-2024 ROSTER???

I’m thinking Reeves is a 4/3 (even if he rebounds like a guard) Also, with all these guys, CDS recruited the transfers but not necessarily the incumbents + we don’t know if anyone was promised pt or a certain role.
  4. 2023-2024 ROSTER???

    To that end, here’s how many MPG everybody averaged last year (ignores level of competition, injuries, etc) 5: Claude 26 / Dowuona 11 4: Moore 21 / Reeves 19 / Gapare 12 3: Coleman 31 2: Kelly 32 / Terry 30 1: Sturdivant 24 / Abram 21
  5. Syracuse, Jan. 21st 2023, Pre And Post Game Commentary

I’ve never been a believer in Pastner as a HC (though I’ve wanted to be wrong!!) and that hasn’t changed many years in into his work at Tech. GT is a tough job (for reasons cited upthread) and I don’t expect winning season in the conference most years (or even in aggregate) but GT has enough...
  6. Jose and Moses Post Draft

Moses took an invite to summer league with Toronto. No word on any E10 offer.
  7. Returning players for 2021-22

From my remove, it seemed like going pro was the right choice but I wanted him to do whatever was right for him and his family. Best of luck to Jose, who seems like a hell of a worker and a great guy to have in an organization.
  8. Game Thread - @ UNC, 1/4/2020

    Holy crap this game.
  9. NCAA Ruling - Postseason Ban, Among Other Bogus Things...

I will say “never cooperate”, which I hate as an ethos, is generally the right move with the NCAA. That sucks.
  10. NCAA Ruling - Postseason Ban, Among Other Bogus Things...

Did this surprise anyone? This is in the ballpark of what I’ve expected as a punishment since shortly after the Ron Bell stuff went public - the NCAA was given pretty strong evidence of our lack of institutional control and was bound to respond. Is the NCAA corrupt as an organization? Very...
  11. Derrick Favors

Favors is a ways away from closing out his career, I think. He’s a good pro, but there are a handful of reasons why his playing for the Hawks doesn’t make sense at this time - ranging from Atlanta’s seeming desire to have a ranger guy on that spot, their general use of cap space as a means of...
  12. Game Thread: 1/2/19 7:30 USC Upstate

Concur on CGB. He has the biggest gap between how good I think he can be (Danny Green type) and what we get from him on the squad. Is Cole actually a stretch guy? He can shoot a little but his real virtue on offense is being tall and limber / cutting to the hoop. Rebounds: part of it is our...
  13. Article Men's Basketball: Lamar Cardinals Preview

lv20gt - that's fair and I'm kind of a stickler for defense, where Wright's ceiling is clearly higher. But the gap between them on offense last year was massive. edit - In conference play, Wright had more turnovers+fouls (36) or missed field goal attempts (also 36) than points (34) or rebounds...
  14. Article Men's Basketball: Lamar Cardinals Preview

Quick note on comparing Cole and Wright's stats from last year - a higher percentage of Wright's minutes (in particular, his more successful minutes) were against non-conference (read: lower quality) competition. In conference, they had near identical rebounding averages (and, to my eye, Cole...
  15. Josh Okogie to hire agent and stay in NBA Draft

I grade JO as a high to mid 2nd rounder. That caliber of player should, absent other considerations, declare and not sign with an agent, so as to garner more info for future drafts -- or, in fact, stay in the draft. What's best for Josh (and I want what's best for him, not what's best for this...
  16. 2/14 - GT @ Wake Forest

I'm an hour and a half east of W-S and I won't be there because ... well, it's Valentine's Day. I don't think we match up well -- WF is pretty good at shooting threes (39%) - a weakness in our otherwise pretty decent-to-good defense - and bad at defending them (also 39%) - a vulnerability we...
  17. Wofford - Tonight (12/6)

Hi, board. I'm going to ramble as means of introduction. (Another) Frustrating loss, but I feel quite a bit better about the program now than I did 14 months ago. Last season featured unusually strong and unexpected development from Okogie, as well as significant in-game luck. This year, while...
