Tech should file a lawsuit against Geoff. How is the backup kicker 9/9 and the starter under Geoff 2/6? Gibson was a mediocre QB in the MAC. How did he get a scholarship? At some point you have to wonder if some things aren't intentional.
He is reading one of the OG. If the AB on that side goes in motion he reads the the OG on the other side. In our spread formation this gets him play side to take the pitch man for both TO and counter plays. He seemed to be doing this most of the game.
In the second half we went to the trips...
I said BC was better than us on defense. I have said that a few times now. My whole point was that they weren't 75 places better than us.
Roof can preach all he wants. When we have 6 guys that immediately back pedal as soon as the ball is snapped on 1st and 10 against a team that likes to run...
I appreciate YPP but, I don't universally think it is meaningful. 6.21 and 7.37 are both terrible. I never said we were as good as BC on defense but there isn't 75 spots difference.
Opponent adjusted is still flawed. Football outsiders retro actively changed how they do their offensive numbers...
I know. Unless you are Alabama, you can't stop everything. BC played the run making them vulnerable in the passing game. We didn't scheme the same way BC did. BC sold out for the run against Clemson and ended up giving up 420 pass yards. We took a more balanced approach and gave up much fewer...
@AE 87 ,
I think our defensive rush YPP was terrible because we weren't committed to stopping the run last year. To tie into the Boston College thread, BC was determined to stop the run. Both us and BC gave up about the same yards to Clemson, 535 to 537. At that point the only thing that will...
I mostly agree. BC still got torched by ND and Clemson. There YPP is all over the place. I don't think that is indicative of a top 5 defense. I don't think comparing our P5 schedules is equitable.
IMO the BC defense was not nearly as good as it showed to be statistically. If you compared their YPG to ours against our 5 common opponents it's really not all that different.
Opp - them(us) - diff
FSU - 217(280) - 63
Duke - 228(279) - 51
Clemson - 515(537) - 22
VT - 274(343) - 69
ND -...
The 2014 team averaged 99 yds more per game. 11-3 vs 3-9. CL had better stats. It's a really bold claim to make with no supporting evidence. It's hard to believe CL had yards gifted to him in a much worse offense.
Are you serious? CL averaged 9.5 per carry and 24.8 per reception. DH had 6.8 per rush and 17.8 per reception. DH played in a much better offense than CL. Again are you serious?
I agree with playing more aggressive in the 4-2-5 and bring a safety up in the box on 11 and 20. What I am getting at is teams like UVA, Pitt, UGA, and Duke just to name a few, need to run the ball successfully to win. I doubt they could throw 40-50 times a game and win. So unless they go 10 or...
