When Tata Martinez first came to MLS at Atlanta United, he pointed to Columbus (coached by Berhalter) as an example of a quality coach and system in MLS and why it is a tougher league than the rest of the world thinks.

This is a very young team which will have a lot of ups and downs until they can develop consistency. Winning at Clemson in Littlejohn would be huge. We rarely ever win there even when we have very good teams. I do not expect a win, but it is there for the taking if we play very well.

Curry had no coaching experience and didn't have a clue when he took the job. He progressed to the point of at least being somewhat competent. Having Don Lindsay as defensive coordinator helped the program progress under Curry.
