The Official 2020 Color Debate Thread

There’s always exceptions to every “rule”. Lol. But, to add to schools that use a secondary color a lot, UNC comes to mind now. Navy is most assuredly a secondary color, but it used a lot. Even as a primary on uniforms a good deal.

Great post. Much more detail and examples than I knew of. Thanks!

Again, I get it. And I was actually going to post kind of what you just said. Of all the teams that I can think of that use a true metallic gold as a primary color (ND, FSU, Vandy, Wake, Purdue, South Florida, Pitt for a while, got to be some others), every one uses that “primary” gold in a...

The Official 2020 Color Debate Thread

I’d say lots of schools that have white base apparel, when white isn’t a primary color. I don’t try to keep up with that many schools and their primary vs secondary colors, so I can’t answer that for sure. I do see online and in person a load of Duke stuff in a dark gray/charcoal and even...

Lol. What’s all the apparel I just posted? Pink? They have made some. About the ratio I’d expect, honestly. Again, look at other, larger fan base teams that have gold as a main color. Not a lot of it. So we are probably on par with other gold wearing teams, given the demand level for our...

Yeah, that whole photo shoot was. Even the individual photos for those teams’ uniforms shown were all done in BDS.

I should clarify. When I say this isn’t “all my stuff”, I mean all inclusive of my gold gear. It is in fact all “mine”, meaning I own it.

That’s a possibility. Most apparel companies run about 12-18 months out on production. So if they make any changes from that survey, we can probably expect to see (or not) an increase in gold/sand this coming football season. When I’m meeting with apparel reps to see the samples, we are...

Let’s also not over exaggerate the fact that Adidas did, in fact offer gold (sand) gear this year. Almost everything they offered in navy they offered in sand. This is just a quick pic of stuff stored in the spare bedroom, and not all of my sand Adidas gear, but this was all since the beginning...

The Official 2020 Color Debate Thread

And there’s a reason they don’t make much gold apparel. There’s little incentive or return. And again, we (GT fans) are simply not a large enough customer base to change manufacturing habits. It’s almost as if the apparel licensing industry has data in that... But hey, I get it that you know...

The Official 2020 Color Debate Thread

Buy gold/sand gear when we get it. That's the best advice I can offer, and that's what I actually do. Again, all of this is pretty logical to anyone dealing with the apparel industry. Gold isn't ever going to be made/offered in large quantities as an apparel color choice. Especially when it...

The Official 2020 Color Debate Thread

Well I am talking to acquaintances and colleagues in the apparel industry. For example, buyers for Dicks Sporting Goods as one example. They buy more navy, even when an item is offered in gold as well, because all industry data shows it sells better. Yes, even when it’s GT specific. Again...

Well, in that product listing above, the only thing that is actually licensed through GT is the jersey, so that's the only thing that GT would actually have say so in. The rest of the items are curated by Adidas themselves. So those are items that Adidas has picked that they feel goes along...

The Official 2020 Color Debate Thread

I think the point the poster was trying to make is that it’s the photo/uniform used at the top of Adidas’ “College Gear” webpage showcasing all their licensed universities. And I’m assuming that most think our traditional colors should be used. As another laughable moment, and one I’ve...

Well, we are year 3 (right?), and people are still wearing lots and lots of blue. Look around at a football, basketball, baseball game. I’d say until fans speak with their wallet and refuse to buy any blue (which isn’t really gonna happen), we will still get mostly blue gear from Adidas.

    2020 Adidas Swag Thread

I always want gold if available, but I’ll wear navy. I prefer navy to black. But navy (and dark gray) is what most of my wardrobe is made of. Speaking of daily wardrobe, not GT specific.
