I rewatched that the other day for the first time in years. Very entertaining. I guess with no sports, this has been the only time I’ve really ventured to this side of the forum. I think I’ve mentioned before that I taught film and had to learn to teach kids black and white movies are cool in...

My sister is an ICU nurse in Atlanta and has been telling me the same thing. Wouldn’t be surprised if she’s coworkers with your friends. Re-opening the economy is important. No denying that. However, everyone I know that works in the medical field strongly believes it’s too early to talk about...

Well one, I can tell you for a fact that movie theater employees and bowling alley employees are not 1099 employees. Two, the CARE ACT does cover 1099 employees, but many of the states have had trouble adjusting to this, causing mass delays. However, help is on the way.

I already explained this. It has to do with the difference between being furloughed and laid off. I’m not about to explain it again. You can look back for it.

Nope. I don’t expect the government to save me. I even voted for Trump. I probably agree with you on more issues than you realize. I was just raised to care about other folks and have common sense which are both things that our current leaders don’t seem to grasp.

The employer isn’t. It’s about qualifying for unemployment. I discussed this like three pages ago.

Don’t be thick. Choosing to work or be unemployed without unemployment benefits isn’t a choice at all.

We already discussed this earlier. Even with the OSHA, if they were to believe that the company in question has justifiably made their company safe for work and covered every guide line, but a high risk individual still doesn’t feel comfortable working, the OSHA could potentially not rule the...

First off, what you’re describing is not the situation we are in. As I have already discussed, we have opened the door to the possibility of people being forced to work when, based on their health and the current conditions, medical professionals wouldn’t recommend them to. They are not getting...

Based on early predictions and our slow start, I actually think the US has ended up handling it better than anticipated(aside from mass testing). The social distancing is working. If we quit too early, we’re gonna undo every right we accomplished. Kemp’s decision feels like too many Tech...

Neither one of them is happy to be in unemployment. It is what it is. And yes, there are supposed to be things to protect them, but as you said, what if they rule that their job is doing enough to make it safe? I use the example used in The Last Dance on Sunday, if someone gave you a bottle of...

If they are older and/or have pre-existing conditions, any job that deals with the public is unsafe. The two people I am specifically thinking of are over 60 with pre-existing conditions. And regarding the doomsday scenario, we know the problem with economy. It’s the virus. If this ends up...

I understand that which is why I think the real issue is Kemp‘s ruling that won’t let individual counties or cities make stricter rulings for their areas than the state’s overall ruling. There are plenty of counties that have been virtually not hit and, with strict guidelines, I think it’s...

Happy to explain more. Most people on Unemployment right now are furloughed, not laid off. The difference is, when you are furloughed versus laid off, you technically still have a job, you just can’t get paid for whatever reason(in this case due to the closure of the virus). In almost all...
