How do the tiers work out though? They only have to use the standings to a certain extent and then it's broken down into tiers where they can pick from a group of teams.

They generally try to avoid rematches and avoid inviting the same team multiple years in a row unless it is big name programs that will guaranteed travel (which sorry we're not in that tier) or tie ins locked a team in.
Makes sense. Iron bowl is always a lock for 3:30. We're usually up against the Florida in state game for prime time and with them both sucking I bet they get 12 and we get primetime
