According to the earlier post, we spend 17.3 million. Duke outspends us by over 6 million dollars. Almost a third more than us, I don’t understand how we let that happen. It makes absolutely no sense. Virginia Tech outspends us by over 13 million,
Or just maybe we had a good coach who did more with less. Nah, that couldn’t be it.
Now we seem to have a good coach, who is supremely interested in selling the school (a very good thing) and has more money to work with. Hopefully upwards and onwards from here.
Also, there are only 11.7 scholarships for the whole team. Makes it a huge incentive for players to stay in state when many are getting only a quarter of a scholarship.
I think Auburn will still get their share. They really are popular on the western side of the state and they somehow convinced Cam to come to them when he was allegedly offered 200,000 to play elsewhere.
So, yes would probably hurt UT, USCe and the one offs that come into the state to get a player. Auburn and FSU (at least FSU for a while but another year like last year and that could change.) probably not so much. Southwest Georgia is as much Auburn country as it is Georgia to a large degree...
First and foremost, I am sure you are correct about when you were there, but Emory is the ultimate cheater and totally gamed the system and LIED about the their test scores to keep their rankings up. They self reported wrong numbers...
But this aspect has never been capitalistic. There are rules depressing the fair market value of the players. The schools are reaping huge rewards and the players are limited (assuming no other rules are being broken) in what they receive.
Thanks for the link @ATL1 , good article. Staples is a good writer and it is difficult to argue with hardly any of what he said. A very fair and positive look
If healthy yes.
Riley has a pretty broad range of opinions, 38 on MLB and unranked on Law’s? I don’t have ESPN insider so I can’t see Law’s but is that right, he wasn’t even top 100 on his?
