I’ve read that Sims isn’t that far off from Gleason from a knowledge and running the offense standpoint. That it’s very close.
No special packages needed. They’ll work on the plays each one of the run the best and go from there.
Sims has a cannon, an elite arm, can he make all the reads and understand the coverages as good as Gleason?
Gleason really jumped on the offense and had his high school coach, who’s now a college coach assisting him on understanding the offense.
From what I’ve gathered is that the offense is a lot different this year from last. Meaning the execution and installation of CDP is much further along. A lot more personnel that fits. For example expect to see more TE play. More screens and intermediate passing. Two or more running back sets...
What CGC is doing in interviews is exactly what a modern era head coach should be doing. It’s what GT should have been doing, from the social media piece to building a relationship with Atlanta. It’s great.
Now get the wins and excitement on the field.
Right now, I’m gonna say Gleason with Sims in with special packaging.
or Sims out right starting with Gleason coming in to get snaps.
Gleason is the prototypical QB for CDP’s system, plus he runs the system to best. Sims is the wild card do to his athleticism. Coach may go with Sims just do to...
So I watched highlights of Temple. The offense was good not great. Russo was a capable runner but not a good runner. Good ball placement however. CDP likes to pass. Russo chucked the rock around. Armstead had great burst but not much speed or wiggle. I don’t see a lot of creativity.
Anyway.
Sometimes hype dictates perception.
Just on measureables alone he compares to Simmons. The staff doesn’t use him in the way Clemson did Simmons but as an athlete yes it’s a fair comparison.
6’3 240lb free safety that runs sub 4.5. Absolutely he does.
If GT was a top 10 team then the world of...
Regardless of who “starts” Sims playing. Read what CDP said about him. He playing, if not starting. Explosive this offense will be if the OLine holds. Too many weapons. Speed and power.
The OLine cloming together is important because what this offense will be is fun to watch.
Tariq is a freak athlete. He’s one of the fastest guys on the team at 6’3 240lbs. He can hit and fly. Roof did a great job of finding a diamond in rough.
