A couple of the early tee times having a good day. Illinois is -6 and has now taken the team lead at -1. Arizona State, who is the host team, is -7 after 12 holes and has crawled up to +4. Meanwhile UNC is even for the day and remains at +2. #1 Vandy is +3 on the day and has fallen back to +5...
I stand corrected. The men can use hand carts as well (just saw it on a video of some of Steelman's shots from today's round on the Golf Channel web site).
It really is a grind. Keep in mind they are playing in extreme heat with temps pushing 100 degrees each day. I think the guys have to carry their bags too (the women are allowed to use hand carts but not the men I believe).
First 3 rounds of stroke play reduce it to 15 teams. Then on Monday those 15 teams get narrowed down to 8 with the final round of stroke play. Then Monday afternoon starts the quarterfinal round of match play. Semis on Tuesday and championship match play round on Wednesday.
Could be true, but at the same time how many good recruits did we get to come here because that same coach has a pretty good track record of getting his guys to the next level. Gotta believe that same aging head coach is pretty well connected to the scouts across MLB.
Even with Steelman's -6 we ended up an even par for the round. This was low round of the day for the teams that went off early. Top 6 teams just teed off so we will have to wait and see how we match up with them. I still think there is an advantage to the early tee times as the afternoon heat...
Still tied for 5th after making the turn but now at one over. Top 6 ranked teams are getting ready to tee off. Wondering if this might be an advantage for us teeing off early as the heat will most likely dry the course out and cause it to play harder in the afternoon. Steelman is the only player...
The following list was compiled by Buzzbomb back in April. My added comments in parentheses.
Drew Burress
OF 5-9 175 R-R Houston County Perry GA Georgia Tech (Perfect Game ranks him as the #29 prospect nationally. #7 ranked player in GA)
Antonio Anderson
SS 6-3 205 S-R North Atlanta Atlanta GA...
No other information outside of the title in the article. Just says more to come. It will be interesting to see who is attracted to the job. I think the quality of the applicants will give us a hint of what the future holds as far as CDH is concerned. I doubt too many quality hires would be...
I watched some of the semis and finals of the women's matches the past couple of days. First of all it was REALLY hot. Not sure if that gives us any advantage. The course appears to have US Open rough. Leave the fairway or come up short on the greens and your ball disappears in what looks like 4...
No thanks. I would much rather be in a pool with Clemson or Duke as the top seed. No need to play the RPI game, just need wins. I have no idea what has to haappen for us to end up in a pod with either of those two teams. I'll leave that up to someone else to figure out.
I believe we will be playing at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ. Does anyone know how we matchup on that course. We obviously prefer the longer courses where we can take advantage of our length.
It's not like the players had class tomorrow since school was out. Did it even rain? I hears there was just lightning in the area. Couldn't wait for it to pass?
Wow! Christo shoots a 62 today and Connor comes in at -7. We are low round of the day at -22 with one hole left today. Still only clear of 5th place by like 9 strokes so still work to do tomorrow.
Doing much better so far today with the low round so far. Started on the back nine 13 under so far and 23 under for the tournament putting us in 2nd behind Arkansas. Christo back in control with -6 after 9 holes and Howe at -5. Need to keep the foot on the gas though as there are 5 teams with 7...
