I was at the game and noticed this too. In his first year here, he blew a lot of gaskets. I kind of wish he still would from time to time, but he has seemed to mellow in the last few years.

Film Study - Offense vs GSU

To my point. In retrospect, Chan's problems were not in recruiting. And God help the rest of the ACC if Johnson ever decides to develop a defense.

Film Study - Offense vs GSU

You may be right. Interestingly, I have always felt that Nesbitt was a better recruit for Johnson's offense than he was for Chan's. Either way, Nesbitt, Dwyer and Thomas gave Johnson enough 'capital' to get him through the lean years that followed. It's interesting to go back and postulate on...

    CPJ

I think Johnson has put up similar results as Chan with, in my opinion, lesser talent. While he has been able to get a hidden jewel from time to time, he has struggled to land good recruiting classes top-to-bottom and has not fielded a respectable defense since he has been here. He has also...

    Our unsung hero

That one didn't get returned either.

    Our unsung hero

I think that will get better. But it is nice to not have to worry about a run back in the kickoff given our coverage issues and tackling problems.

    Our unsung hero

Harrison Butker. How long has it been since we have consistently watched kickoffs leave the endzone. He kicked one into the stands on Saturday. He kicked another one that hit the cross bar. I have been a Tech fan for 35 years and cannot recall having a kicker who had that kind of leg on the...

Film Study - Offense vs GSU

Very nice write-up Boomer. Always love your posts. I am quickly becoming a huge fan of JT. I don't watch the replays very often, but JT seems to be able to make plays even when the defense has the option covered. While I don't claim to be an expert, it seems like he often outruns his...

    GSU and a Little Perspective

Not to be a negative nellie, but why has it always been survive and advance the last 4 years? Why can't it be 'beat down and advance', especially when you have a better team?

    Deon Hill

Saw Saw him leaving the stadium yesterday with an ice pack wrapped around the ankle. He was walking slowly, but on his own. Hope he is ok.

    JT>VL

I recall watching Ricky Dobbs at Navy and thinking that their system looked faster than ours. I watched Navy yesterday and they looked they were running in slow motion compare to us. So is it me or do others think that this is the fastest this offense has been run since Johnson has been here...

    Paul Davis Penalty

That isn't the only problem with Johnson's teams. He's been here going on 7 years and hasn't fielded a defense yet. The best we've seen is with Chan's guys, 4 NFL defensive lineman, and even then Johnson was less than spectacular. 3 different coordinators, all of his own recruits, and we...

    Auburn's Option v. Tech's Option

Something happened to Vad. He brought a fire, a spark and a quickness to the field in 2012 that he never showed in 2013. I don't know what it was, but I cannot help but to think he was coached to be part of a system that didn't fit him, rather than tweaking a system to fit his abilities...

    Auburn's Option v. Tech's Option

I concur with this. Same guys that sucked last year end up #2 in the BCS this year. It isn't just talent. Our scheme can work with the right guys, but even when we had good teams in 2008 and 2009, we were beating ourselves. We sucked against a far inferior UVA team when Groh was coaching...

    Auburn's Option v. Tech's Option

From my layman's perspective... 1. They run it more out of the shotgun. 2. They have a 'feature' back, rather than spreading the ball around. This makes a huge difference in recruiting 4 and 5 star running backs out of HS. 3. They don't seem to have nearly as complex blocking schemes...

    Clemson choking

5 turnovers late in the 4th quarter. Boyd playing like crap. Dabo saves his annual choke game for USC. Pathetic.

    UGA fans at bobby Dodd

The cheap seats were filled with UGA fans. They had a scattering in the west stands, some of which I noticed came with tech fans, others had the season tickets from tech people - which I don't understand. But the tech crowd, at least where I was, was loud and proud.

    Auburn

Who surgically implanted the four leaf clover (glued to a rabbit's foot) up the rear of Malzahn this year? Two miracle wins in the same season. Unbelievable. Does anyone realize that McCarron threw a 99 yard TD pass in this game, the longest in SEC history, and no one is ever going to remember it?
