  1. Scholarship openings.

I feel like if we get more classes like last years we'll be ok. We are off to a good start this year and just need to finish at the same quality level.
  2. GT (-5) vs. VT

We were favored vs ND, Duke, UNC, Pitt, and UVA and went 0-5. We are 1-1 in games we were the underjackets. I'm thinking we go 0-6 vs teams with a pulse against which we're favored.
  3. Michael Summers Has Left the Team

If he's hurt again that could play into it. Getting injured again and again can get to a guy sometimes. Hope it's not depression. Sometimes things like that come on in a college aged kid. Whatever the case I hate to see him go and wish him the best! Also hope he sticks it out for the GT degree.
  4. Ted Roof

I think he'd prefer to not to have to think about the D because he is the OC and he's got to think about in-game adjustments and not coaching defense. Other thing is his teams at Georgia Southern had great defenses. Not so much at Navy due to recruiting limitations. IMO our under Johnson on the...
  5. Navy vs Memphis

Gonna vary from year to year of course. Last year our offense was unbelievable and better than Navy's. This year it's middling to poor. Now as to why that is with a veteran OL and QB I am not sure. I thought the turnover in the backs and loss of Shaq would hurt, but not this much, even with the...
  6. New Commit Possibly

Ok, finally figured it out. He committed to GT in TRACK. Still cool to see a friend's son will be competing at the institute.
  7. New Commit Possibly

A friend just texted me that a guy I played ball in college with's son just committed to GT. Haven't seen anything on his facebook site though. Not sure I want to release the name if it's BS info or the family doesn't want it out there yet. Rare time I would know anything ahead of the curve. I...
  8. Regarding our young guys...

Agree there's some nice young talent. We've had good luck with our 3* Gatorade Players of the Year. Plus you've got guys like Lynch, Searcy, and the Austin twins starting to assert themselves. On the OL Klock, Bryant, & Shamire are looking good. We could have some interesting years ahead of us.
  9. Who else came up big in TEAM win?

Justin does make plays for us and for the other team. Part of his game he needs to work on. He did wisely eat the ball a few times instead of pitching it though, and of course had 3 big plays for us.
  10. Who else came up big in TEAM win?

Who you got? Here's a few: BUTKER: Dude canned 3 FG's including a 53-yarder in a tight game. Miss any of those we lose this game. FG unit also protected well which had been suspect. Good job! Also FSU has a very dynamic KR guy and Butker kept parking it in the endzone so he couldn't return it...
  11. 4th and Stewart

I will say when I saw the ball go in the air and that the WR was open AND it was Stewart I felt very confident the catch would be made. Kid is sure handed and adjusts to the ball like a center-fielder. Great to see yet another player making a play in a great team win. FWIW, I think Lynch has...
  12. FSU Postgame

Hasnt been in any thread I read win or lose.
  13. White Helmets for Free Shoes

    I like it.
  14. All is forgiven if?????

To start winning some games we need the vets stepping up and playing like vets, the young guys to keep improving, and the coaches to figure out how get the most out of what we've got. To date none of that's been happening but I thought Pitt was the best we've looked so far. I really believe if...
  15. GT Roster - Distribution of Years of Experience playin' College Ball

I agree OUR STARTERS are not young. That is irrefutable fact. It's why there were high expectations going into the season--and it's why there is head scratching now, including by me. It is also FACT that our two-deep and special teams are littered with very young players, but last year they were...
  16. GT Roster - Distribution of Years of Experience playin' College Ball

I got curious about the class distribution of our team. The above is a pivot table from Excel. It isn't perfect because somehow it only had 84 scholly players (I still included, Hankins, Lamont Simmons, and JJ Green). Here was the distribution of college football experience in years coming...
  17. A Suggestion

It's the same 5 people hijacking again and again and again and they won't stop or let it drop. Posts like this Boomer--though well intended--will have little effect in my opinion--though it's still worth trying. Like Boomer I don't mind the coaching debate but it ruins the board when it seeps...
  18. A different perspective, point to ponder.

The fire the coach crowd is actually really only about like 3 fonts. The reason I know this is because I ignore them so it's easy to quantify.
  19. Defense? Where are they?

We had a lot of trouble putting pressure on their QB and he's pretty good. Plus Boyd bailed them out repeatedly. IMO that kept our defense on the field a lot and we wore down against their run. (Also running two consecutive passes to start a drive on our 8 yd line then a 36 yard punt gave Pitt...
  20. Defense? Where are they?

I saw some shakey tackling by Gray a couple of times. He's obviously a great talent....and he's still young.
