I’d say we will likely be around 60/40 run/pass, with a healthy dose of QB runs mixed in with RB carries and slot guys on sweeps. It just makes sense with the talent on the team now that we would be leaning toward a run heavy approach, even as we are opening up the passing game.
I’m sure they do in most practice situations, but if you’re putting teams together for a scrimmage you probably aren’t swapping QBs between teams. And I’m not saying that TO is locked in as the starter or anything, just that it might be a clue where they are currently sitting.
Based on the clips shown here, I see Christian Campbell, Avery Showell, and Devin Smith (#2 DBs) chasing Lucas on his long TD and I see a pass from Tobias to Jalen Camp (#1 WR). I wonder if this might be a clue where the coaches have our QBs slotted at the moment. I’d be interested to see which...
I take it as Kelly’s current guess based on what he’s seen in practices so far. Knowing how this staff does things, they will definitely promote the official release on one of the various twitter accounts.
In Ezzard’s case, they should approve it on the basis of Manny Diaz showing that he’s entirely untrustworthy with the whole “leaving Temple 2 weeks after taking the job” thing. No player should be forced to play for a coach who has zero respect for commitment or honoring his word.
My goodness this is a dumb take. Of course our opponents were running TO with their scout team to prep against us. Also, you have no idea what high schools are running nowadays. Haven’t you noticed just about all our guys saying how they used to run this system in HS when asked about the transition?
I’m in for the league this year again, but I’d like to request we run it through ESPN instead of NFL.com. I do other leagues on ESPN and their interface is WAY better.
I’d say it’s more likely that if LJ was to win the starting job the coaches would look for opportunities to put Graham and Oliver on the field at different spots. This lets you take advantage of these guys natural athleticism at RB/WR as well as enabling all sorts of trickeration with QB-level...
I very well might be wrong here, but I thought an OL could play with a non-OL number, he just has to check in with the ref who informs the other team. Anyone can confirm or deny this?
It can be tough, but when you start noticing the same guys making plays and having plays made against them you can kind of see a pattern developing. It’s not perfect but it’s the best you can do.
I honestly think that Paul Johnson’s testy/adversarial relationship with the local press is going to work in Geoff Collins’ favor at least for the first couple years. Since he’s making such a big & public effort to embrace the media and the city in general, they are likely going to be bending...
Pro-tip: GT athletics page has the press conferences, true, but the JacketsOnline channel has the same videos but better audio (by virtue of Kelly’s mic being among the press). I usually wait for the videos to post there before checking them out because it’s really annoying listening to answers...
Oh absolutely. Also for the “no time for instruction” concerns, I’m sure the coaches are watching every practice rep on film (possibly immediately after practice ends) and figuring out what correction each player needs then implementing them in meetings before the next practice.
Here’s my favorite part from this update:
“Oliver did take part in an 11-on-11 drill in which he made an option pitch to running back Dontae Smith, who gained the perimeter and ran down the sideline for a significant gain.”
We have only dual threat/running QBs...it would make zero sense to take...
She’s definitely growing on me. Her style is already way better than Ken, Kelly, and Rod and she’ll only get better as she becomes more familiar to the staff. It also helps that she’s not working for an organization that’s biased against us from the start. I just signed up for the Athletic on a...
Oh no doubt they have taken all these things into consideration, but man it’s the offseason and there is nothing of any real substance to discuss. At least this one is talking about the team and upcoming season instead of another old/new coaches pissing match or uniform/color debate!
I’ll be...
