Well at least this sounds reminiscent of our issue with the ACC Championship. Haven't heard of anyone else dealing with the Schrodinger's Cat effect of the NCAA until now.
(Still infuriating, but hey, misery loves company, I guess?)
I believe the way the previous and subsequent messages were written strongly supports this. Someone's definitely overcompensating for something to get that personally worked up over another person saying "Meh, doesn't matter to me."
Not a coach, and not a Key hire, but I think bringing Kenyatta Watson onboard is still paying a lot of dividends. But maybe that's just because his recruiting-focused position puts him more in the public eye than others, and thus more likely for me to notice him having a hand in a lot of things.
...and the SEC out of conference schedule was, as always, somewhat weak (with a few P5 exceptions, the majority of which they lost this year).
The only reason the SEC is regarded as being "better" is because they play a lot of other SEC teams. Who are regarded as being "better" due to having a...
I still hold that it makes no sense to compare anything prior to 2014 with today. It's a lot easier for an undefeated team to be "left out" when there are only 2 spots available to play for a national championship.
Or it could have been a HS recruit who was unhappy with the news, and decided to let the press know.
Could have been any number of things. Agreed that none of us know for sure.
That being said, to me it seems reasonable that this news was not intended to get out at this time. Releasing the...
Agreed. While I don't like what wound up happening to him (for his sake), I 1) can't blame him for taking the chance (even though I would likely have been more conservative if in his shoes), and 2) now that it's said and done, I hope he can be used as a future example for more of our team...
I believe it was both.
So if we keep going, at this rate when they finally decide to leave in 2047, the prognosticators will triumphantly say, "See? Told you so."
1: Glad to see this.
2: Crap. Our winning percentage when on College GameDay isn't too good. (NOTE: Auto-play video on that page. Mute your volume before clicking, then scroll up to hit pause.)
Let's hope we make the most out of this opportunity to a) exorcise some GameDay demons and b) give...
Lots of things you could take from this. I'm sure there's more discussion elsewhere on the site, but 2 things came to mind:
1 - This could be simply Mike Norvell's take on "malicious compliance" or "quietly quitting" the CFP system this year. Did anyone else notice how Norvell hasn't appeared...
Would love to see that. But that would require the Powers That Be to decide (like the rest of us have) that college football is better when more teams have a path to the championship. And based on recent events, not sure that's gonna happen.
Still, we can dream...
Last night I found myself thinking about the new "Power 2" alignment of college football. It made me think, "How does one account for Vandy? And Northwestern? And other "lesser" teams?
Then I realized, "if the 'eye test' is what's really important, then you have to show you're going up against...
