Well obviously not because we have been overall a successful program - at times greatly exceeding our potential taking into account size of alumni base and spend. Whether we can win playing the same game the same way as everyone else is a different question. You gotta bring something...
Nope, but I’m not optimistic when the solution lies in marketing (historically shown to have limited success) and recruiting (where there is an upper bound to how good it can get) and there is no attempt to find an edge in scheme or strategy. We’re taking a vanilla me-too approach to both...
Yes he is. But I don’t see us ever getting our base to the level of a UNC. Does anyone realistically believe that’s attainable .
? Other than maybe CGC ?
Weve tried all manner of marketing to sidewalk fans through the years. I don’t disagree that we should try but we also should be realistic about the chance of success. 3 win seasons do nothing to move the needle in the right direction. Multiple 10-11 win seasons would move the needle, but...
UNC has also recruited “at a high level” for a lot of years. That’s also why they were know for being such an underachiever - they had a hell of of a lot of talent even under Fedora, they just couldn’t produce on the field.
They’re much better under Brown for sure
I say LOL because this comes up every 5-10 years. It’s never happened and all the ATL hats and hashtags are likely to be just as successful.
We simply need to be smarter than the average bear. Today we are well below that
Agreed. If we aren't ready to play KSU, that will be very bad. I'm 100% sure KSU will be ready for that game. If we aren’t ready it might be very ugly. As for the rest of the schedule there are winnable games if we out execute the other team, but that was true this year as well. Laying eggs...
Blah blah blah recruiting rankings blah blah four star blah blah....
unless you’re a CFP contender (about 5-8 schools and we ain’t one of them) it’s about what do you do with what you have. So far not so good. Hope it gets better. Relying on whether we really have the 40th or 20th ranked class...
I can’t imagine it would make much difference. I don’t see GT v Duke (or BC or Pitt) pulling in more people or $ in MBS. It would move the needle on 1-3 games per years. But it would suck.
So we can play in an even more empty stadium??? We made a mistake when we expanded BDS. Why go somewhere bigger so larger opponents can out buy us ? Oh wait, all those sidewalk fans are going to rep GT right ???
If I had a nickel for every person who said that we needed to make GT Football a can’t miss for Atlanta and pull in the sidewalk fans.....
Hell GA State could say the same thing. It just isn’t going to happen. You want to make a GT game can’t miss, get a bunch of double digit win seasons...
Same. Remember one goal post came down quick. Security tried to stop access to the other but gave up pretty quickly. Damn that block in the back call on the Rocket Ismail KR return otherwise there would have been no debate. Of course if we don’t tie UNC...
