So, is our next OC coaching today?
Presumably, that's the case since the name hasn't been announced.
Or are we conducting a thorough, nationwide search with dozens of candidates considered before naming Chris Weinke? ;)
Eventually, a handful of schools (3-4 dozen max?) will commit to playing for the big prize.
All the rest, and that includes us, will play, if at all, at a much reduced level. Think Ivy League here.
Tell you what...after promoting BK and retaining AT, if we promote CW to OC and win, we'll have a pretty good idea who the problem was these past three years.
:censored:
Yeah, that resonates with me in that being conference champion ought to mean something. Maybe the regular season champion and the conference champion (unless that's the same team).
The problem, of course, crops up when the two best teams in the country are in the same conference or even in the...
Are you guys feeling confident enough in our QB situation to recruit a bunch of OL and WR and just light it up with a wide-open passing game? Sending out five receivers on every play?
Now, wouldn't THAT be change in Tech's offensive identity? ;)
Well, the HC thread was so popular, I thought I'd try a similar thread for the open OC position.
So, who's your horse?
You can vote for your top two choices and change your votes at any time.
The downside to that is that it penalizes EVERY school/fanbase with one less game just so two teams can go to the playoffs.
I don't think that's going to fly. Consequently, the top teams will be playing 15-16 games a season.

Romans 5:3-5
"We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us."
Out of context perhaps, but instructive nonetheless.
Let's say that the CFP takes the top two from each P5 and two at-large bids.
This means that one or two conferences would get a third or fourth team (looking at you, SEC). Or that a really good independent or G5 team gets invited. Whatever.
My question is: why play a conference championship...
Something I've noticed in the ADJB announcement clip has me wondering.
At about the :38 mark, after Key walks in and all the guys erupt in applause, etc., Key starts working his way down the front row shaking hands and hugging guys. All the players are standing, cheering, reaching out...
Ya know, I was just thinking that if we could squeeze some urban planning discussion in with all the non-stop football talk, I'd be one happy camper.
Is this a great forum or what?
I'm not a MB fan, and I understand what you're saying.
But if we're really honest, the pattern of those columns track our fanbase's own sentiments about our FB & BB hires pretty accurately over the last 10-15 years or so.
Don't they? 🤨
