I'm not a bike enthusiast myself...but Mrs. Billd is...and one of her great enjoyments is being able to bike from our home to TCF Bank Stadium (about 8 miles) for home games in Sept. and Oct. The local governments have been very good about converting abandoned RR grads into paved bike paths...
Maybe Buzz does this too but Goldy enters the field on a 3-wheeled, stand-up scooter and "drives" around the field prior to the team coming out of the tunnel.
Here's a pic from a Halloween game where he's in costume...
Certainly not the same footprints as The Wreck but now I wonder if this...
Given Nebby and Wiscy...and that team to the east for you guys...all sport RED as their colors no wonder that's not a color ever worn by a Jackets or Gophers fan...
Unfortunately no. Really thought hard about it...especially with GT as the opponent...but being the day after Christmas was just too much of a challenge.
You can bet though this is "must see TV" the afternoon of the 26th!
Here's a Minnesota nugget. We have beer and wine sales at our home games through the 3rd quarter...very expensive beers, but some local microbrews represented.
We've grown used to it but visiting fans typically overdo it with the novelty of it all.
Pretty sure the GT fanbase knows but the Gophers had a s***-storm 2 seasons ago between the last game of the season and the bowl around how troubling off-field behavior after the first game of the season (alleged sexual assault) was addressed by the institutional authorities, the new AD, the U...
For 2015 about 30,500 undergrads and 12,600 graduate students...so in the 43-45 thousand range. UM is the same as Tech, UGA, and Ga State all in one school. It's the land grant institution for Minnesota and only D1 school. What's Tech's enrollment?
Clearly a perception out there that having a pro team in town adversely affects a college program attendance wise. Similar situation for Minnesota in the Twin Cities with the Vikings as GT with the Falcons. Not so much as diluting the fan base but there is only so much entertainment dollar to...
I'll use this thread to cover any bowl-related items on the Gophers or Jackets in the run-up to the game.
Today it broke that one of our offensive lineman has taken a pro-agent and thus "retired" from college FB...of course forgoing the bowl game. Ironically (for this particular match-up) this...
Getting back to the "bowl media" purpose of this thread got something to offer...
The Twin Cities equivalent of the Atlanta Journal Constitution is the Star Tribune. Although having a mostly a pro-sports focus...especially the Vikings...they have tried over the last few years to provide better...
You are not alone. Really no middle so far at UMN although most of the Minnesota "dislike" fans admit that if we start winning they will get over it.
Getting The Axe went a long way on that front for Year One.
Yes, he's been here two years but it's "Year One" because Coach Fleck said last...
A big complaint in Gopherland is that our team rarely wears its actual colors any more. Coach says alumni be dammed the kids like the alternative ones. BTW...does Tech have an Anthracite uni?
Our gold is different than your gold...although our new helmets do have a metallic look that could be worn by Tech teams with no problem except for the big M on them...
Ummm...If GT playing basically at the distance away as West Virginia's campus is a "home game" for you...okay. Admittedly it's 1.5 hours by air for us...but a 10+ hour drive. Really not considered our "home" territory. Detroit is also very close to Ann Arbor...which is not Gopher friendly...
From HotMagic's note from the past to UM in the present.
Minnesota recruits Georgia. Who knew? Well, we know but now you do too...
Current Georgians on the Gophers roster:
RODNEY SMITH. RB. REDSHIRT SENIOR JONESBORO, GA. MUNDY'S MILL
SHANNON BROOKS. RB. SENIOR AUSTELL, GA. PICKENS...
