I forgot Pitt. We can still lose to Clemson and win our division. Not saying I think we lose. Just saying if we beat Miami Saturday and finish off UVA and PITT then we take the division because I truly believe VT gets two Loses in coastal.
Well guys I have been trying to find the positive in our predicament. Here is my optimistic 2 cents...
We win Saturday and we a ACC Championship bound. What!?!? You ask....
Va Tech imo is going to lose 2 games minimum.
We win Saturday and take out Virginia in Charlottesville (yes I know...
Look I am not and I repeat not going to be the one to say hey we lost against VT so fire CPJ. That is a little overboard. CPJ is an amazing coach regardless of how pitiful he coached this one. But, that being said... 1-5 VT 1-4 Miami 1-4 UGA 1-4 Bowl Games... If this year doesn't...
I will say this... Our punt team could not figure out how to line up correctly all night long. It looked like a classroom of 4 and 5 year old kids trying to figure our how to line up.
Also our Kick-Off coverage is ridiculous. We can't stay in our lanes and the tackling at times is horrific...
No disrespect but STs is the least of our worries imo. The offense is where we lost the game last night. That being said STs could stand some improvement as well.
Oh you are correct there were definitely times when they sent only 4 and got pressure. But there was also alot of blitzes and stunts by VT that disrupted our o-line. But at the end of the day the bottom line is the offense played pitiful and CPJ's coaching was horrible.
Its all in how you look at it. You could say we had a lot of false starts and the o-line played pitiful because their were too many guys to block (i.e. 8-9 guys in the box). The pocket collapsed when we passed because they were sending 6 guys on average during their blitzes. Really...
The play calling in this game was horrid. When the defense stacks 8-9 guys in the box and also bring their safeties down you CANNOT run smashmouth flexbone football with success. Waller and Smelter both had 1 on 1 coverage the ENTIRE night and CPJ just looked narrow minded and ignorant with...
I completely agree with every sentence in your post.
This was EMBARRASSING. Watching our offense last night was likened to sitting and watching someone run their nails across a chalk board for a solid 60 minutes.
We never once used the diamond formation. NOT ONCE. Its not the solution...
CPJ said earlier in the week that Jemea Thomas can slide back to safety. I see him and Noble at safety for the game if need be. With Young and White manning the corners.
