Im not entirely sure they would have only because Ralph would have still been up against flunkgate and the change in recruiting that came with APR. We probably would have seen him going heavier toward the option. We might have still got calvin since a huge reason he came here was his own...
You are probably right. the nickle package ofr this defense is probably the same alignment as the base package but you swap out an outside backer for more of a safety type
O'leary got a lot of special admits, something that the hill stopped doing for both chan and for CPJ. it was a big deal when we got one for Travis Custis. and well we all know how that worked out.
Recruiting isn't a vacuum. How is that people can't get that we have far more negative recruiting things about us that anyone else in the country ( besides maybe the academies). We literally have to fight the crap school systems in our recruiting hotbed
Paul Johnson has never shied away form answering a "hard question" the problem is his answers are usually honest. " Coach why are you losing?" was a common question in 2015. The answer cpj haters wanted ( and most of the ajc) was " I suck". The correct answer was injuries had forced us to play...
That wasn't my point at all. Dabo is a different type of coach he doesn't out coach people on the field. Cutcliffe is a great coach, we beat him 9 years in a row until he got all the peices in places to start building a program he could win with at duke.
Dabo doesn't outcoach anyone, he out talents them and lets his cooardinators coach. Cutcliffe got everything he wanted from duke from support staff to stadium renovation.
This was where the depth problem showed. In the beginning of the games we would often be dominate but as the game wore on and we had not really subs for the OL, we'd lose that domination and stop executing as well.
Tech's schedule if it were cars
Alcorn State - Go Kart
USF - camry
Pitt- Hot rodded pickup truck, something that looks dependable is just as likely to not start as it is to win a drag race
Clemosn - orange lambo - fast, sleek, costs a hell of a lot but you get what you pay for.
Bowling Green -...
This is pretty true. The one thing that i would add is that familiarity also helps our offense. Look at how we have done against VT these past couple years. CPJ is starting to get into Foster's head and always has som wrinkles specifically for him that we add in. I would argue that the coach...
That catch wouldnhave been a circus one. He had to split to defenders and high point it. Not many recievers can make that catch. We have actually been rather spoiled by exactly how good we have been at catching the ball
Both?
The real point is that clemson is a case study in what happens when the university and the athletics decide theybhave the same goal.
We arent and are therefore different. Until we are hiring a different coahc isnt going to do anything. And to be honest i have seen what happens when cpj...
Clemson still has plenty of liberal arts degrees to hide athletes in. The even made a few around 08. Before that they often lost out on science and engi eering minded players to us
If you don't change the thing that keeps us down ( academic standards, the hill seeing athletics and an afterthough) a new coach won't help. All you have to do is look at clemson to understand you get what you pay for and what your support.
I really don't have a problem with this. Most of the time these guys that are leaving are role players that see themeselves subplanted. The only one in recent years i can think of is Klock where he would still be here if he had got into the MBA program.
Need to change our substance abuse policies fix it. If it had just been academic he coudl have come back but "weed" = bad still. Weed = stupid yes but not really any more so than binge drinking.
