  1. Welcome Coach Collins!

    I'm sorry you're moving.
  2. Welcome Coach Collins!

The road to the exit is paved with claims of "my dream job." Until the next one. (I don't fault him for saying it. I fault anybody for believing him.)
  3. Welcome Coach Collins!

Yep. When the AD goes out looking for an innovator, somebody who recognizes GT's place in the scheme of things and what it needs to do to compete, and comes back with a cursory search that nets a guy who will run ... an NFL offense, then yep. That was a pick from the paper, as Washington...
  4. Welcome Coach Collins!

I think Georgia Tech will come to regret this hire very much. This is the best candidate that Tech could draw? The storied Georgia Tech? Of Heisman and Alexander and Dodd? Only two years as a head coach in a sub-tier conference? 11 jobs in 22 years? A lunging, slow offense that is about to be...
  5. Recruits, Current Players react to the Collins Hire.

Pretty lukewarm on Collins in Philadelphia. From Inquirer this afternoon. http://www2.philly.com/college-sports/temple/geoff-collins-temple-football-georgia-tech-next-coach-20181207.html
  6. OC Hire

I think he oughta get a written exam on the board once a week. Time to tighten up here.
  7. Welcome Coach Collins!

That might be the most amateurish, unreported, top-of-the-empty-head fraud I have ever read. Not sure he has ever seen a football game, much less GT. A triple option on almost every play? What? Maybe the reporting will get better. I have little hope.
  8. OC Hire

Gotta say we are nothing if not helpful. Guy hasn't put his cleats on and we are telling him what offense to run and who to hire. Wait until the season starts...
  9. OC Hire

I watched the Cincinnati game on YouTube and never saw an I formation. He runs out of the spread with a one back backfield and on occasion, an empty backfield. At no time did his QB get under center and they line up in the John McKay Power I. The one back is one side or the other of him, maybe...
  10. Potential Head Coach Hires

I think you're pretty much on target. We need to compete with Clemson. But that is now a powerhouse in college football and getting better. It is just the way of things. Clemson and Georgia are out of reach except for the ability to make them sweat for a win.
  11. Potential Head Coach Hires

It seems a little puzzling to me that from all indications only two candidates were interviewed. Clemson's Scott was called "a candidate" but that is beyond doubtful as nobody ever talked to him. More like message board hopes probably. But if the job is that desirable, where were the candidates?
  12. Potential Head Coach Hires

I'd say you are an incorrigible optimist.
  13. Potential Head Coach Hires

Interesting. But a cautionary note: Georgia Tech would be his 12th college coaching job in 22 years. One assumes he leaves the motor running, and Tech should make no retirement plans.
  14. Potential Head Coach Hires

Here's a piece out of the Philadelphia Inquirer this morning. http://www2.philly.com/news/geoff-collins-georgia-tech-football-temple-head-coach-paul-johnson-20181206.html
  15. Vision for the Future Offense

You've just made the case for Tony Elliott, whom the AJC "reports" is a candidate ... except nobody has talked to him. Both the offensive scheme and the Georgia recruiting -- and Clemson knows there are a bunch of players in Georgia and if I recall harvested a couple of pretty fair QBs there. I...
  16. TStan Give Some Clarification

OK, so the person typing this is ...
  17. Vision for the Future Offense

Actually, I am assuming that Collins would be the head ball coach. In charge of it all. It is one half of one game between two slow teams with two big slow bad QBs, one of whom seems to almost shot put the ball out. Somebody with a better eye might take a look, but whoever is chosen is going to...
  18. Vision for the Future Offense

If it is Collins, then maybe not so much. Today I found Temple-Cincinnati 2018, both about eight games into the season. atched a half and gave up. Temple kind of went at up tempo, but not very much up to the tempo. Lots of dinks and dabs to the flats that I did not see a purpose to other than...
  19. Vision for the Future Offense

I think this whole pro and anti and neutral Johnson coaching thing is just wasted motion. He is leaving after the bowl game and that is that; I hope that all of us, whatever the view, thank him for 11 years of service and untold years in keyboard time, and move on. I guarantee you he is. But...
