Just to add a bit more perspective. Schultz has been putting CPJ on a hot seat for 2-3 years now. Then we are not even a full year away from the CBS Sports guys kerfuffle tweet that CPJ was unhappy and wouldn't mind if the donors forked over to buy him out. MBob and CPJ squelched that story...
Of course they only had ten "close" games not 12 but you are touching on something that I think media narratives prejudices us towards; namely, not being able to recognize or handle "parity" well. Sometimes the margin of difference is just not that great between even a slew of college teams...
I say that FSU has played a lot of close games and had to come from behind this year because the ACC is the best conference in football top to bottom and they have been gunning for the defending MNC Seminoles.
Prove me wrong?
Btw, my point is only that if your narrative assumes on no evidence...
The refs were again rewriting the rule book here as they allowed UGA to have players run right over the defenseless long snapper which is by rule a foul. Each instance should have given us a new offensive possession and first down.
Absolutely correct. UGA was clearly playing the game as hard or harder than they ever do. They never fail to play up for this game and give it their best effort on senior day.
Just the same as Clemson clearly gave it their best effort. The penchant for some people to downplay Tech's...
He explained why after the game. He said that the issue with such a big rivalry game is that the coaches have a hard time getting the players to just calm down concentrate and execute. He said in several ways how completely amped up the guys were and how frenetic and basically ADD it made them...
You made me actually look at what he could possibly have written. I got too curious. (That isn't a complaint btw, I am just amused that I got curious enough to show hidden content).
CPJ directly stated this in his pregame interview . . . or was it in the press conference this week? No I think it was today at some point I heard him say it on the radio. He directly stated that the team lost a bunch of players this offseason who "liked to complain a lot" and that everyone...
Tech was clearly the overall superior team. This game played out (as in by the players on the field) to have actually been meant to be the "Tech-Clemson game redux, the road version." UGA had no business being in the game and it should have been a 21 or 24 to 10 GT victory and have mirrored...
Laskey had 140 yards and 3 tds on 26 carries (also no negative plays or fumbles). Chubb had 129 yards on 25 carries 1 td and -4 negative yards and a fumble. Laskey runs this state.
If you take Laskey and Days together they combined for 235 yards or over 100 more than Chubb. (And still over 60...
These refs were clearly trying to fix the game. It was unbelievably shady. Thomas had a touchdown. Then they rewrite the rule book to say he fumbled when his feet had left the ground and he was throwing his arm and ball forward.
There is no rational way to understand what the refs did on...
I hate trick plays, particularly if they involve someone other than our QB throwing a pass. I just want to see the team run the offense and CPJ to call plays within it and in reaction to the defense.
I don't recall any of the media treating him unfavorably based on his demeanor, personality, or attitude. I can only recall a contingent of fans who treat him poorly based on those impressions. And then maybe sports talk radio people. But they don't count as media to me and are also extremely...
Yeah it may be unsolvable unless more is known about the original Scots-Irish, Scottish, or English drinking song itself. When was it written and where? I list three ethnic contexts for it as it is not clear to me if it may actually be American southern in Scots-Irish or truly an old world...
@AE 87, are you taking into account the context within the original song of the hero being a "rambling rake of poverty"? I would think that "honest fellow" refers to daily laborers and so what could they be expected to afford with their daily wages other than the cheapest form of whiskey...
Yeah I don't have an impression of him as a writer one way or the other to base my reaction on. He just lost me with his attempt to illustrate his point.
The next paragraph says that FSU won a close game over Tech last time but ran the ball well; while this year they have a rather mediocre...
He did not graduate from GMC with any degree. When he left NC State he had to sit out 2 years before he could go to an ACC team. He sat out a year at GMC and tried to take an enormous load to attempt to get his associates degree in one calendar year. It was "possible" to do that but he...
