  1. ACC Discussion

I don't think the NCAA, NFL, NBA or all the major corporations pulling out of NC has anything to do with supporting the Dem Party. The same entities told the state of Georgia that they would do the same if Deal signed the anti-gay law here last Fall. It's not a political party issue...

forgot baseball was at DBAP. That probably does represent a meaningful hit to Durham's tourism coffers. Do the soccer and lax tourneys generate much revenue for the city? I haven't ever attended so not sure if the tax revenue will be much of a hit for SAS-Ville

not surprised. no way the ACC could hold events in the state with the law on the books. hoops tourney being in Brooklyn made the decision much easier as it is their big money event. the only big event this impacts (I think) is the football championship game in Charlotte.

The ACC Tourney is in Brookly in 2017 and 2018. I think the HB2 debate will be long over before the 2019 tourney. If the law stands as is and all the other entities remain out of the state (NCAA, NBA and lots of big corps), the ACC will not hold the tourney in the state and they will also look...

I wonder why Swofford and the Mafia would go out of their way to conspire to make things hard for one of the worst teams in the confernevce. Seems to me they would do this kind of thing to a team they thought could be a threat to the teams they are allegedly conspiring to benefit. Given that...
  6. 2016-2017 GT Hoops Schedule

The ACC opponents and road/home have been known for a year. The only thing we found out today was the dates. I stick with my over/under of 2 wins in conference this year

also from ramblinwreck.com (courtesy Matt Winkeljohn) "Pastner has an up-tempo offensive system in mind, but before he and his staff install anything coaches want to understand the strengths and weaknesses of returning players with two goals. They want to see how they're going to need to...

should be interesting to see how CJP approaches the season. Go up tempo and get blown out with opponents routinely scoring 100+, but hope to entertain the crowd with style. Or slow it down and bore the crowd but keep the margin to 10 - 15 and maybe steal a game here and there. Neither is...

Nope. ESPN and NCAA have far too much ($$$) to lose if they penalize UNCheat or Kentucky for their violations. Like Tarkanian used to say, (paraphrasing here) the NCAA got so mad at Kentucky they gave Creighton the death penalty

I really don't like the OAD phenomenon, but we're stuck with it. I miss the days when you knew the players on other ACC teams almost as well as you did those on your own team. These days, it's just different. There's no doubt Okafor, Jones & Winslow were the reason Duke won it all in '15...

I think I've been pretty consistent that I think projecting individual stats before seeing the team (esp with a new coach) is folly. That being said, this is an internet board, not a doctoral thesis. Tadric 13 Q 11 Heath 6 Lammers 9 The rest of the crew: 28 Total : 67

Individual ppg is so hard to project. Depends on playing time, roles, etc. I would expect Tadric & Q to be the primary offensive focal points. Think Lammers and Heath will get points opportunistically. As for the rest of the team, I think they will contribute some scoring, but no one...

Completely agree you can disagree with my opinion. You start casting aspersions and you cross lines. Like I said, if things remain as they have generally been on this board, I'm happy to hang out. Sarcasm and banter is part of what makes it fun. There's also helpful info, particularly...

This went far beyond the normal tone on this board. If this is the way the board trends, I'm out. You can disagree with me, but when you start throwing around personal attacks just because someone disagrees with you.... Life's too short to waste time with that

At a high level, I'd use language like impressed, surprised, and happy. I would also have to give a major tip of the cap to the kids for putting in the work and the coaching staff for significant improvement in all three kids. (The type of cross-year player improvement we haven't seen under...

Are you ok with the wager I proposed? We wait til year end and look at teh stats. If your guys produce as you expect, I will leave this board. If they don't, you leave

FWIW, a buddy of mine coached in same league as Stonehill in the 90's. He always spoke highly of a couple of their players from the early 90s (time period I believe CoolHaji was there). Joe Cronin is the one I remember, but there were a couple of others he really liked. No clue if our guy...
