How Good Is Recruiting Data at Predicting End of Season Power Ranking Performance?

Would you mind/ can you share the raw data? Looking at R^2 may not be the most informative thing here, and I kind of want to look for markers of backcasting in the data.

    Great interview with CPJ

Maybe I'm a starry eyed optimist, but I have trouble believing any part of GT would make that kind of statistical interpretation error without someone saying something.

Forbes Article on Stanford's Rise to Football Prominence

    GT COACHING HISTORY

Hate to break it to you, but Georgia State University has been GSU since 1970. Southern changed from Georgia Southern College in 1990. They've got 20 years of being GSU over GS. Also, muktiple degree granting schools makes you a university, not dorms.

Georgia Tech, victory, and the possibilities for change

Well, I think that engaging in some Socratic questions can help get to the bottom of this sort of thing. Ask them how an athlete that passes classes can devalue the degree. Now, if you're talking to administration, they more or less have to admit that passing is the only legitimate measure of...

    To Hell With Georgia

So I walk into this bar and the person up on the stage starts off with a 'How 'bout them dawgs'. My 'piss on 'em' is loud enough to be heard over the chorus of barking. Bad news is I gotta find another bar. Good news is To Hell With Georgia.

    Justin Thomas 2013 highlights

As a general question to the thread: how much of the risky behavior do ya'll think is attributable to being 2nd string and feeling pressure to make the small time you do get huge? Does he calm down if he isn't trying to prove something every play?

Georgia Tech, victory, and the possibilities for change

I've seen some lines of thinking in various threads that seem self-defeating to me. I thought it would be useful to confront the issue directly. Things ain't what they used to be. Imagining that Tech's success was entirely the result of a deified Bobby Dodd isn't reasonable, and imagining...

    GT COACHING HISTORY

I don't think I understand what you're getting at here. What should we take away from these numbers? A few thoughts: 1. GSU is Georgia State University. I see a bunch of people doing this and it really annoys me for some reason. We're not GIT, and Southern is not GSU. 2. Calling Gailey a...

    General blocking problem question

That's not being peculiar, it's engaging with the sport. I'd wager 90% of fans haven't tried to watch the line because its complicated. QB's and WR's are easy to identify and track. Football is a lot more interesting if you decide to try to watch more than 1/4 of the game.

    Academic Intimidation

Here's how I think we sell Georgia Tech. GT Engineers (and Architects, by the bye) face some incredibly tough classes the likes of which even MIT and Stanford seldom present. But, intending no offense, let's face it: our football team is, with exceptions, gonna be ridin' the M train (I guess B...

    What is GT's Reputation?

I found the answer: the teaching quality section is full of crap. They use class size as their education quality proxy, then have more points in doctoral/undergrad ratio, income/staff ratio, and graduate/staff ratios. Essentially they penalize for being a large institution while paradoxically...

    ESPN mischief once again

You've got it wrong. Hate isn't about hating individuals or groups. Hate is about who we are because GT was and is forced into self definition against a dominant trend. Remember that GT was founded out of the understanding, after the Civil War, that the South would have to change to meet the...

    Tight End stuff

I don't think there's evidence of that. We backed off the pistol/gun when we had serious issues at the LOS that opening closer to LOS helped to mitigate. Sticking to a new strategy that is being poorly executed is not innovation, it's stupidity. I think most people who say CPJ is rottweiler...

Why we had a 7-6 record

The great thing about being a Ramblin Wreck is the universality of our brotherhood. Anyone who can hack it is a member. Management (lately business) majors who struggle with Shocks for Jocks to CS majors who struggle with weekly bathing, even the meanest of these shall be my brother. The...

    APU

Full disclosure: I'm a EE and Econ double major, so I have very little interest in politics and a nerd's devotion to technical correctness. But yeah, no- unions in the US remained fundamentally committed to capitalist structures. Socialist political views were only ever a minority (actually...
