Great to see the players upbeat and having fun....right in the middle of the pinnacle of the grind. Freeman really looking sharp.

Ken needs to improve his question "articulation", especially to CPJ. Coach does not usually respond to the intent of a poorly structured question, and IMO he rather addresses the weak link in the question and Ken serves him up too many "weak links". CPJ seems to focus on attacking the premise...

When P Rogers was here running the BONE I believe he insisted that the right side OL have their right hand down and on the left side the left hand was down. Is this what Sewak/CPJ require? and if so does Will have a preference? (I believe Klock expressed a preference for right hand down but also...

Sorry Boomer also- while I agree CL (Freshman) has not yet reached the performance of Deon Hill (Senior), he made several plays where he finished runs strong for extra yards and several where he made moves (two of which he scored) beyond what I suspect most of us expected. Throughout the course...

No. I said his forehead looked like hamburger meat. I actually asked him if he had been blocking without a helmet to which he smiled and said "no CPJ gave me a helmet, its fine. We've just been working hard".

Just a note about Brad Morgan at Fan Day. His forehead looked like raw hamburger meat from the helmet rub. When I asked him about it he shrudded it off as a mere cosmetic blemish and not an issue. I did not see any other players with helmet rub (maybe he needs a better fit?) I believe it was...

I believe right now the externally padded helmets are experimental and for practice and have been in use for at least a couple of years, used primarily by the OL. CPJ said GT ordered extra in case other position players wanted to use one, and a few are. I hope they prove to be a big help are are...

I guess that means JJohnson is currently third at one of the safeties and Dotson is a third at one of the CBs....or competing against the freshmen for those spots. I saw in an earlier post a brief note about JJohnson playing some Nickel. I give Roof credit for getting his starters and likely...
  9. Fan Day 8/6 Roll Call

Biggest arms (considering body size) goes to Alford and Alexander, and there were many, many others in close second place. MMarshall is really put together. Even the QBs looked like LBs. This was a really strong athletic looking group. The players obviously put in some good work in the...
  10. #GTCamp2016

My mistake in nomenclature. I meant of course we predominantly play 5 DBs and 2 LBs.
  11. #GTCamp2016

I look at the depth issues in two ways: Do we have depth numbers at all positions to conduct efficient practices and scrimmages? yes. Do we have backups to give starters brief spells of rest during games without affecting game outcomes? yes. Do we have sufficient numbers to create position...
  12. #GTCamp2016

I agree. Since we predominately play a 5-2 defense we have good LB depth (you can also add Jackson). The depth issue is more in the back 5.
  13. Chris Griffin on medical scholarship now

Marshall is also working some at T, but that is only good if Freddie stays healthy. And how does Munns fit in? I can see a scenario whereby Marshall moves to T and only returns to center this year if Freddie will be out for an extended time. Munns will be the backup center for very short term...
  14. Fan Day 8/6 Roll Call

I also talked with Harris' parents who are from my and Godhigh's neighborhood. Mother says only his height (5' 8") was a detriment in his recruiting. "Short" did not seem to limit Godhigh. Very nice people and Jackie Harris will make a good addition to our team.
  15. AJC Update Nate Cottrell

IMO Too much risk. (there is NCAA consideration to eliminate kickoffs due to the high risk) Been there with Lenny Snow. Prefer someone who can help us in the return game that you can replace if necessary, not an every down playmaker. I cringed when Smelter ran back kickoffs. Go with a Jarrett...
  16. The Good Word: Big Time

Unfortunately Thomas/CPJ look left less often on passing downs. Many of Waller's big plays came after Smelter's injury when he moved to the right side. I hope Stewart is more often looked to in third down possession plays as I think he may be our best receiver for contested balls.
  17. Fan Day 8/6 Roll Call

As of 6:45 PM nothing yet. Taking Grandson, daughter, and son-in-law. Looking forward to seeing the old and new faces.
  18. Media Day

We have to dump the ball short in the flat some. The OLBs have to cover that area and that will keep them from blitzing in the middle so much. We have had some ABs wide open but we never seem to look that way. With the talent at AB this year I hope we get them the ball in space and let them run...
  19. Other football fans are clueless

I think most of those close losses to UGA were the talent difference in the QB. UGA has had a long string of great QBs (2014/2015 being exceptions). UGA seemed to make that fourth Q drive to win the game on the back of a great QB. Tech generally had lesser talent at the QB position and just...
  20. Got 'em right where we want 'em

We for sure have lost some coaching advantage in the Coastal but the top dog has more chances to get knocked off because of stronger competition. It may mean the Coastal Champ will limp home with 2 or 3 losses. That might help to offset our regular game with Clemson.
