The DC can stay and can keep who he wants on his staff. The HC can hire any offensive staff he wants. VT did it with Fuente.
CPJ’s buyout is $4 million. That’s no ot insurmountable.
Yes and No.
Does it give some level of schematic value? Yes, to a limit. The results are inconsistent and at the cost of recruiting, brand damage, and perception, no longer worth it.
A lot of that isn’t just CPJ. That’s mostly on the AD. They have the responsibility of making sure the athletic department is accountable. If I’m not mistaken the entire athletic department has seen sharp increases in the IIRC across the board.
If I was Todd I’m making the call. The Lions suck and I know for a fact he wants to be an OC. Well GT could have an opening. He can be HC & OC or bring in Ralph as the OC. Can’t do any worse.
As of now I can only foresee one maybe two more wins.
Louville L
Miami L
Clemson L
UVA L
UGA L
VT L
That’s firing numbers. Couple that with 3 losing season in a four year window and yeah it maybe time to move on.
Back in 13’ before 14’ I wanted CPJ gone then 14’ came and I thought the program may have turned a corner for good. Now, I don’t know, but the alum have to say enough is enough.
I want GT to compete consistently for titles and I don’t feel CPJ is the coach that can achieve that.
USF has a good offense. I really like their offense and GT’s defense bottled up what they are really known for. By doing so however it left them the ability to exploit the D with all the underneath stuff.
I don’t get coaches love affair with Brant Mitchell. It clearly looks like some sort of favoritism.
But.... Swilling to start in place of Curry.

“One possible solution, Johnson said, may be to play fewer young players.”

From what I understand he has a cannon, but that it comes with some accuracy issues.
Next years QB challenge will be interesting. If we can hold on to them.
