What is this thing about Waffle House?

Oh I'm sure you're right that it started with him just liking WH. But once things started getting popular he jumped on it!

What is this thing about Waffle House?

Glad to be of service, my friend. In general this is the kind of thing that Geoff is just naturally good at. He jumped on social media really early from a GT perspective way back when he was here before. He has a knack for promotion that connects to how kids consume content these days. The...

What is this thing about Waffle House?

I think it's all about connecting to ATL and the southeast in general with something that could easily go viral. Viral videos and snaps and instas and tweets get to the eyes of kids. And yes, kids like Waffle House. We live 1.5mi from our local HS (where Jonathan Dwyer went) and there's a...

Official GT announcement, OC and DC

I watched the first 3 series of it. I then ran out of time but I'm going to watch the rest of it tonight and/or tomorrow. Oh and I liked what I saw of the offense for Coastal.

Official GT announcement, OC and DC

I have to say I love your handle! I was at GT from 84-89.

Official GT announcement, OC and DC

Never mind... someone else made the same point I was and I hadn't read that far into the thread. Ignore this.

    OC Hire

Totally understand the logic of going with a guy who had been in a good offensive program but had not really called plays before. I’m not sure I agree with the ceiling prediction you’ve given, mainly because I don’t think what we saw at Temple without a solid situation at QB or QBs who he felt...

Biggest holes to fill O&D 2019

The way I look at our overall talent is that what we lack mostly is depth and a couple of "difference makers" at some position or another. You rarely looked at our offense this past year and said "wow, look at that guy! You have to watch him every play!" That's what I mean by a difference...

    OC Hire

For me Sark has two big strikes against him. The first is that I just don't think he's a competent leader of men. When you show up drunk, as you've recounted, you're clearly not the right guy to lead a college program. The second is that I think he's a crappy OC and play caller.

DC Andrew Thacker’s background from NE Georgia...

I'm fairly stoked about the possibility of Thacker coming down to GT. I had read his bio as soon as Geoff was announced as our head coach with the idea that he'd probably bring some of his staff with him. Thacker was one of the guys I liked the best from that staff for a variety of reasons so...

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

:D This reminds me of many episodes where one of my best friends and I would "argue" only to discover after an hour or so that we were saying the same thing. HAH HAH!!! :joyful:

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

Here is one place I think we can agree whole heartedly. Wouldn’t you have loved to see what CPJ could have done with better resources and more commitment from the AD? I’m an unapologetic fan of the triple-option (I think it is one of the most beautiful offenses when run well) and when CPJ had...

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

As someone who really liked our offense under CPJ (and I also think CPJ is a good man and loved his honesty AND his sarcasm) I really wish he’d been given the support that TStan appears to be slowly ramping up for our program. I’m glad we’re getting more support now and I will always be...

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

I completely agree that without more resources we shouldn’t expect much change even if CGC is a great recruiter. I think I have modest expectations assuming we do get the financial support. Those expectations are that we average 1 more 4* player/year and that we do a better job of getting...

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

I’m pretty sure that nothing I’ve said even remotely qualifies as “ranting.” You’re the one doing all the insulting and that’s much closer to ranting. Plenty of people have said we can’t attract good athletes and we have always agreed that kids need to want to major in one of our degree...

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

Actually for the last 4 years my kids have both been in high school and not a single one of the football players I’ve ever met has even mentioned our degree programs (one of them played for Minnesota). They have mentioned our offense quite a bit. But I’m sure people don’t want to hear that...

No, I don't act like I'm the only one who took calculus. You act like nobody else can pass calculus. There's a very big difference. And guess what? I also attended other universities. And I understand extremely well what the differences are. I was also a tutor of football players while I...

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

I actually can read AND I do read. I’ve spent time going through our actual catalog of majors and many of them sound REALLY cool. I’ve read the descriptions of many of the courses themselves and many of the different areas of specialization. And many of them have the advantage of being...

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

First off I don’t agree they are needles in a haystack. I think there are far more than we’ve been identifying. And we have plenty of majors available that give flexibility to those kids who are truly focused on also earning a good degree. However I do agree that in order to target them we do...

    “Branding” and “Marketing” ...

I think that what frustrates some, like me, is when the ONLY way that our academics are referred to is with the term "limitations." There's clear, negative connotations to that. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone who does that so please don't take it that way. But for far too long the only...
