ESPN: GT in driver's seat in Coastal

I can't stand articles titled like that one. How can we be in the driver's seat? The season hasn't even started. I appreciate the confidence, but the truth of the matter is that we are merely standing in the starting gate, just like all the other horses. Pre-season hype is worthless. Sorry. I...

    Skill positions

You know, after the game, CPJ pretty much said the opposite about Allen, in terms of his assignments, so I was left wondering about what I thought I saw. I dunno. He had some good moments to be sure. From the north EZ it looked to me like he was confused when he didn't have the ball. I saw him...

I have no idea who will step up, but I find this to be a very exciting time in that regard. We have some new faces to look forward to. The ingredients are going to change, even though the recipe will be the same.

    Clean, Old Fashioned Hate

The one position we had pretty much been at a deficit talent-wise every year during the dry spell was QB. Besides that, the teams were pretty even. In fact, I would say the years we had even (or better) QBs our record is pretty good. Lil' Joe and Godsey won three in a row. Then came the streak...

    Potential Visitor Today

Good film. He understands leverage and gets angles pretty well. The kid faced a lot of double teams in the film. He doesn't run as well as JHD, but he is physical. He won't get pushed around much.

Macon Telegraph: Stability at quarterback raises the bar at Georgia Tech

The only situation where I see JT's weight being an issue at all is in goal line and 3rd (or 4th) and short. In this offense, you really the need the QB follow to be a legit power, short yardage threat. It opens everything else up. It is nice to have everything, but rarely so. Most QBs who can...

AJC: Dennis Andrews no longer onthe Team

Focusing back on the AB depth impact of this issue: This hurts. I think we have a lot of guys who can run with the rock just fine, but experience at AB is just so important. Knowing who to block is absolutely critical to the execution of our offense, so is knowing how to block effectively from...

AJC: Dennis Andrews no longer onthe Team

It doesn't matter about the validity of the rule. The only thing that matters is that there IS a rule that goes along with being associated with this group of people. He knew the rule. He agreed to the rule. Then the broke the rule three different times. This isn't about an organization jumping...

    The Case for Ted Roof

936, you are not alone. I remember my initial reaction when the hire was announced. It was pretty much luke warm. I had always liked Roof, especially as a player, but I also had these memories of the defenses during O'leary's tenure. I had not really followed Ted's career after he left us. I...

    The Case for Ted Roof

In another thread, we got off topic a little bit as CTR and the defense came up. I thought it best to start a thread because it merits some discussion. This is why I think CTR is the right guy for GT in the long term: 1. Over the last couple of years our kids just played harder. It is a...

An insult to JT and GT

I think this is a good point. If we ask ourselves the question "what would we have liked him to do differently in the Miami game?", then the answer wouldn't be much of anything. What makes our offense so special is that any number of players can pile up the stats for a win, but it all starts...

Prior to our game against UVA in 1990...

I was a US Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton when the 1990 season happened. I will never forget the UVA game, EVER. I had a Marine friend from Athens, of all places, who just happened to be a die hard GT fan, living close to my quarters. We watched that game together and just went nuts. It was...

An insult to JT and GT

Winning is what I care about anyway. Individual awards mean very little in the context of a team sport. The world has become all about the trophy, and I get that, but truthfully, the only thing I care about is that OUR fan base appreciates JT and he helps us win. If we have the kind of year we...

Nice AJC Article - GT Off Season Priorities

One would hope, but you have to remember even with those guys our pass rush was abysmal last year. Having a pass rush bringing 6 is way different than having a pass rush bringing 4 or 5. Maybe Whitehead will help. It is certainly possible. My hope is that the maturation of some of the previously...

Notre Dame Football 2015 Off-Season Preview: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Should this thread move to the lounge? I think we have lost our way a little. There isn't really any football being discussed.

Nice AJC Article - GT Off Season Priorities

Some of it is development (with the WRs). But some of it, frankly, is just being the only guys left to choose from. In our offense, with the relative lack of total number of throws, it is natural that their will be a certain "go to" guy. When Smelter was healthy, it was him last year, even...

    good Shaq Mason article

I know I have watched that video before and commented on it, but wow. Just wow. He is a man among boys at this level. Time to move up.

    The second half

IMHO, him going to the unbalanced line with the play-side OG pulling (with the play) was the difference in the game. They never adjusted and it set up everything else we did in the game.
