I think the key is that they decided to spend heavily on the coaching and support staff, and the family atmosphere/culture that Dabo has built attracts and retains top players.

This isn’t necessarily directed at you: I love how people are acting like, “Oh, watch out! There’s a new sheriff in town now!” It’s like CPJ was some soft players coach or something. These current guys are used to discipline and hard work. They’ll buy in and be fine.

I think it will be a great way to prove out whether recruiting or coaching is more important. The new staff will be a 180 from the old one.

I’ve said before that I think it’s about 60/40 recruiting/coaching. Will be interesting to see if, in fact, GT can up its recruiting game, or if the structural issues keep us about the same level. We’ve definitely hired the right guy to prove this out.

It’s doable, if you come from an environment that values education. Many of these athletes don’t.

I think the administration has to give CJP more time now, since they screwed him by showing DLab the door (mainly due to Peterson’s ethical issues on the academic side).
