I don't know the ins/outs of it but what was posted above does jive with what his parents were saying when he had to leave. They said that he passed all his classes. However, I know he was taking at least 1 remedial class. I don't know if that came into play in the eligibility thing or not...
Myles is taking summer school classes to bring up his GPA. This was known & planned from the time the offer was extended to him.
Basically, he goofed around his freshman and sophomore years in HS. But then he buckled down his last two years and that's the only reason Tech was even able to...
I agree with you 100% but I don't think we ever get rid of "signing day", per se. Even if we get an early signing period, I believe we'll just end up with 2 different signing days because ESPN has figured out that people will watch...and thus, they can televise it and make money.
All I know is my first game as a Tech student (1984) was a 20-16 upset over Alabama. Then we beat UGA that year and did it again in 1985. Only one other Tech coach since has beaten the mutts twice so I could live with a predictable offense with production like that.
Wanna bet? I'll guarantee you that our coaches don't go to a school and ask for the top 3 GPA kids in a school and then ask "well can he play football?" That's silly to even think such.
First they look at skill set, size and athleticism. Then they ask "what are his grades"?
