    Rank Your Excitement for 2022

Honestly, I don't care if we win 8 games. Geoff has lost the fanbase and it's time to move on. No offense to Geoff. We all realize it was the Greatest Transformation in the History of Earth. But let's just get back to good football. He wasn't the guy and he can enjoy his millions. I just want to...

    Rank Your Excitement for 2022

12th? I'm into my 40th. My seat mate at BDS started in '62. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

    Rank Your Excitement for 2022

My introduction to Tech football was back in 1979. In 1980, we played Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, UGA, and Notre Dame. I think one sportswriter (Furman Bisher) said Tech played the toughest SEC schedule in the nation ... as an independent. Games were FUN. Flashcard seatings were a...

There is more to a decision than wins and losses, especially FIVE wins. I'm sure TStan is looking at a) donation rates this year and a 5-year trend, b) season ticket renewals, c) positive mentions in the press (you can buy a media analysis, so it's not like he's reading these him selves), d)...

Interesting reminder. I must get 3 calls a week from my AA rep. (They got rid of the replacement and brought him back.) That does bode well for season tix sales if they are pressing this hard so close to the start.

If you haven't noticed, the GT football program is not in the same place as it was when CPJ was hired. We are not an attractive destination for many coaches ... we have a lot of challenges in curriculum, schedule, recruiting, and funding ... that many experienced coaches can avoid.

Quite the opposite. The average length of time to fill a senior role is around 180 days, depending on the role. You can't a let a major role sit idle for that long. (Well, maybe you can.) My business had average Days of Unfilled Positions < 5. Never skipped a beat.

Chip Long was considered a legit contender for a top HC job while running the highest production offenses under Brian Kelly at Notre Dame. Following his fall from grace, he is now affordable. (This fits with my theory that Tech can only afford coaches toward the end of their career, those who...

We will see. A lifelong friend of mine was in the room at the AA during the housecleaning at the end of the season. He said there was no mistaking the message. It's SIX or you're out. I will maintain what I said months ago. If Geoff goes (and my personal opinion is it is a foregone conclusion...

Folks have been saying this for 40 years.

Collins says players have 'chip on their shoulder'

THIS. I might add the waiver of tuition fees (especially for out of state athletes) is a grant-in-kind and counts against the 10%. So basically, there is almost zero cash transferred from the Hill to the GTAA. There are very few teams that are fully funded by a university. I can think of only...

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

All CFB has to do is hire a commissioner and send out a Request for Bid. USFL, Nike, NFL etc. NFL would pursue like a preacher pursues a prostitute.

    Conference Realignment

professors decide the modality, not students. And students overwhelmingly prefer live class. For the learning.

    Conference Realignment

This is a huge problem. Athletes in my classes often need 3 days off a week during competition. Two for travel and one for the event. This leads to LESS student experience... I know golfers at one SEC school who never attend classes at the main campus. Timewise, it isn't possible.

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

I think you hit the nail on the head. Let the NFL manage it. CFB has no experience with managing free agency, unions, etc. create an NFL - College Div and let them deal with it. It has become a cesspool.

    Conference Realignment

The Hill is subject to both NCAA regulations and state law. Currently, the Hill's contribution to athletics is largely in forgiving get out-of-state tuition expense for players. There is very little direct cash payments (if any) to the GTAA. If you look at FSU, they generate gazillions through...

    Where the Program stands

I wonder if that was the plan all along? As long as GT had to flip the roster, it made no sense to spend beaucoup bucks to bring in top flight coordinators. Wait until the greatest transformation in the history of Earth is complete, then upgrade the staff. I think that fit in well with the...

    Conference Realignment

True. But a) I have Spectrum and you can't just buy internet service. You have to buy a cable package first and then you can add internet/streaming. b) There is not enough bandwidth available to handle very large events. If 100 million people watched the Super Bowl all on streaming, the system...

    Conference Realignment

Dissolving the conference might be one option. But the unintended consequence is that GT will have NO local/regional rivals. That's not going to be good for fan interest and I expect we will take a huge hit in attendance and/or any future conference GOR. The more this trends, the more I expect...
