  1. Conference Realignment

Here goes.... Some of the "left outs" are tough. ECU, GA So, App State.. there are some programs with an argument... Maybe need 72 spots? 8 divisions with 9 teams each. play everyone in division (8 games) plus 2 random games then seed the division winners.... hope my attempt at a table...
  2. Conference Realignment

the only thing that can be proven wrong is this... MOST win. Not everyone. The wealth is concentrated in the ilk of Ohio State, Texas, UGAg, Bama, Michigan, USC, ND,etc. They’re really the ones running the show and 100% of the objection to this scenario will come from those top 10-15 programs...
  3. Conference Realignment

My understanding was the uneven part is an “eat what you kill” mode for post season and individual team bonuses. I thought the base media deal (and presumably a buy out to be relieved from it) was still split evenly. Was that a rumor? Details still pending?
  4. Conference Realignment

Well, the “buyout” may be treated differently, but the media revenue split is equally. FSU and Clem annual share of media would be split among remaining members. If ACC did something different with the buyout, I couldn’t say, but I have a really hard time believing it could favor any one program...
  5. Yet another CPJ vs CGC thread

With a shelf date of 1982... but I’m sure it’ll be fine; those things last for ever. I think most fans can see it now. God forbid it takes 20 years of “Collinsesque” performance to bring that into focus for the rest.
  6. Conference Realignment

Bolded part 100%. No idea what or where you read the dollar amounts and I’m not disputing it (well, maybe a little) BUT, if I’m an ACC team that is not likely to land in a better revenue situation, I want to hold like crazy to the GOR and the ESPN deal. WHAT FOLLOWS IS RAMPANT SPECULATION. ESPN...
  7. Conference Realignment

To be fair, we all pay for it one way or another.
  8. Conference Realignment

Precisely. They wouldn’t. $300m wouldn’t scratch the surface, either... especially if it’s just two teams departing. If EIGHT teams leave for $300m, that comes close to compensating the other six for what they would’ve made through 2036. If just two teams are leaving and stranding the other...
  9. Conference Realignment

But the Internet rumor is even better than that… They are leaving for the Big Ten! So not only have they figured out how to work around the GOR, the Big Ten has also decided that they will look past the seven other ACC schools with AAU membership in favor of the two that havent attained it yet
  10. Conference Realignment

Let em go! the math works in our favor… The two $40 million shares they’re walking away from will give the rest of us a $6.5million bump annually. I’m sure we’ll let them pay their buyout over 5 years, so that will yield us another $4 million each annually. $50-$52 million annually sounds...
  11. Conference Realignment

Could not agree more... especially with the “blue blood” programs insulating themselves further via unequal revenue. Big 12:
  12. Conference Realignment

Woah... can you clarify the B12 comment? Did you mean the B12 negotiated that new teams come in at the same rate as existing teams? Essentially, everyone they bring extracts another $35m (or whatever their figure is) from their media partner? That’s crazy! I agree on the contraction and also...
  13. Conference Realignment

Thanks for the complete reply. I didn’t know for certain if the ACC had sold 100% of it’s rights or not. Couldn’t imagine whatever scraps were left to be worth anything. If we’re beholden to ESPN and ESPN gots no more money, then here we sit. Count our blessings to have $40m / year! PAC...
  14. Conference Realignment

Speculation is all we fans have! So a question... probably hypothetical... does ESPN have exclusive broadcast rights of ACC teams? Can they exercise their right to any event (or every event)? Part of some crazy theories being tossed around is the notion that a team could leave the...
  15. Conference Realignment

I agree with all of this and will add that I also think this is good reason to be skeptical of the $90m- $100m per team projections being touted by the presumptive “Power 2.” Maybe they get there, but I remain skeptical at this point. If ESPN doesn’t have cash to toss to the SEC for a 9th...
  16. Conference Realignment

No; when it started it was more highlights and replays, newsworthy items and analysis. It started to evolve into more personality driven shows and commentary, which was fun for while, until those personalities took over. It has kind of followed the same path as our news media.... reporting the...
  17. Tech vs. Louisville

want to seize on the Collins / Golden comment but not the thread for it. Suffice to say the two coaches were on diverging trends. I am looking forward to improved QB play too. I’m also hoping to see him protected. Not just by blocking (which I’m also looking forward to improvement) but by...
  18. NIL, Transfers, and Stratospheric Salaries. What Is the Future of GT Football and College Football in General?

I would anticipate they will continue to do the same stellar level of selective oversight they have done up to this point...
  19. NIL, Transfers, and Stratospheric Salaries. What Is the Future of GT Football and College Football in General?

I think that’s a totally fair question and a good point. As I read it, I think the bigger development is giving the NCAA oversight on NIL. No idea what that actually means or what the unintended consequences will be, but on the surface it seems like this is giving the NCAA back some “teeth”...
  20. Tech vs. Louisville

Unfortunately, its not the work of one negative Nellie here... it was emblazoned across the screen of a national broadcast. While there is no need to pick at old scabs, it certainly speaks to the perception of our program. Hopefully the next graphic will serve to show the stark contrast of the...
