  1. Surprise, surprise... ACC head of officials backs calls

I remember a play against Duke, at duke, 3 years ago, when Renfree was QB. Brandon Watts beat his man and was going to clobber the QB, but the OT had his arm drapped around the neck in an obvious hold. QB threw a TD, no holding called. It's not the 1st time, won't be the last. Duck Fuke.
  2. CPJ Radio Show tonight at 7

Gotsis isn't near good enough to go to the NFL after 3 years. There's zero chance of this happening. The only DL player that's been somewhat impressive thus far is Freeman.
  3. Did Anybody Notice..

How long have you watched GT football, because we have run a play from the draw-them-offsides thing after getting into the wishbone. I'm pretty sure one of them was in the 2009 ACC Championship against Clemson.
  4. Film Room GT v Miami Series 2

That was a QB follow, not a midline option. On the midline, we don't block the 3-tech (DT shaded outside part of OG); rather the QB options him. If DT takes BBack, QB keeps, else give to BB. On the play in question, the OG blocks the DT, and there is no read.
  5. Denzel Perryman on GT O

While that's not totally true (the double option with the A-back going in motion between QB and BB is new), isn't that typically true for all teams who has the same offensive coordinator year after year? I bet Miami runs the same plays they ran last year too.
  6. GT v VT 5th Offensive Series

What makes it a cowboy call, and how is that different than the load option? The Load option is a double option, but the QB and BB ride the mesh to give the triple look, but the BB will always be blocking read #1. In this play, the defense has the switch on, so the OLB takes the dive, and the...
  7. What is the play called to the Aback

No, that's a different play, and that play with open with against GSU IS a counter. This play isn't really a counter at all, it's a quick hitting give to the a-back up the b-gap.
  8. What is the play called to the Aback

I don't know what it's called, but we 1st ran it 3 years ago against UGA, and we'd give it to Roddy. It worked great the 1st few times, but then they caught on. I know we've used it a few other times, but not too often. I'm glad it's still in our arsenal.
  9. If Reggie Ball Can Beat VT in Blacksburg...

... Phillip Wheeler, Joe Anoai, Andrew Gardner, Gary Guyton, Adamm Oliver, and Kenny Scott It's like saying "Brad Johnson/Trent Dilfer/Mark Rypien/Doug Williams won a Super Bowl, why can't Matt Ryan?"
  10. Not a Chop Block

You're 100% wrong: RULE 2 Chop block re: defense initiating contact. (2-3-3) E It is not a foul if the defensive player initiates the contact The OL has no control over what the DL does. If OL1 is assigned to Cut DL1, if DL1 goes and hits OL2, it is not a Chop block.
  11. I am Gonna Say Devine Pancakes Some People Saturday

My understanding is the extra "g" was used to differentiate ourselves from all the other "Bulldogs". We had a corny saying, "The Extra 'G' means Extra 'E' (Effort)" There are 2 HS's now, WBHS and Apalachee HS. That was fall of 1993 that we made it to the Semi's. Heck of a year.
  12. I Guess I Need a Lesson

midline is tough to run against a defense with a man head up the center. Considering, a typical midline is run right down the mid-line of the offense (meaning, right behind the center) towards the 3-technique side (outside shoulder of OG), you can't do that with a nose player. You could run a...
  13. I am Gonna Say Devine Pancakes Some People Saturday

I played at Winder-Barrow in the mid-nineties against Elbert, Stephens, and Hart. Hart Co had David Jackson, Mr Football AAA, but we beat you up at Hart that year (as well as Stephens County, but lost to Elbert to Mecole Hardman (father of current recruit of the same name)). Rodney Walker was...
  14. I Guess I Need a Lesson

Sounds like an old single-wing play. In little league, we played a team who ran the single wing, and they would shift their backfield left or right, and 90% of the time they'd run that way, after snapping it to the deep tailback (while the quarterback was blocking and calling the signals).
  15. I Guess I Need a Lesson

That's no option play at all. It's more of a QB Draw, with roll-out action. I don't know what CPJ calls that (nor what other coaches call it for that matter...QB waggle keep?)
  16. Ode to a former forum

Biggest bunch of bologna right there. Hart ignored facts, and, if you didn't see the world the way he did, ban. And, he loved to delete his own incriminating posts, and try to claim he never said those thing. Loved that guy.
