  1. Pitt Postgame Discussion

Benson was a beast but we really need to rotate guys more. The kind of mileage he had today catches up to you as the season goes on. Quaide runs really weird but it seems to work so hopefully him and Jerry get a few more snaps.
  2. Tech D today!

Also basic tackling and getting pressure without having to bring the house. People were upset with the D performance after the Jax State game, including myself, even with the score and the picks because they didn't look very good at some stuff that should be defense 101. The D actually wrapped...
  3. Pitt Postgame Discussion

I'm of the opinion that, with a few exceptions like Devin Hester, 90% of kick/punt returns are just bad luck. If it keeps being a problem then I'll start to worry about the unit but I think we're going to be ok.
  4. Pitt Postgame Discussion

Simmons needs to start. He lived in their backfield.
  5. Harvin Questionable

If you make it the other team is chasing a point. If you make one and miss one it will be a wash. I personally think with our offense we should go for 2 a lot more especially after a long drive when their guys are winded, but coach is too old school to go for it.
  6. CPJ & Nebraska

Maybe he means at Nebraska specifically after Bo Pelini. There aren't a lot of great ones out there besides Saban but half the SEC HCs were DCs (Smart, Odom, Muschamp, Saban, Mason, Stoops, Bielema, Coach O was a DL coach) before becoming HCs so I don't know if athletic departments necessarily...
  7. CPJ & Nebraska

I think Frost is a mistake. Not only is this only his second year as a HC, I really don't see a team like Nebraska being successful with the HUNH Oregon-spread offense. They should play to their reginal strengths and be a down hill running team in my opinion.
  8. CPJ & Nebraska

They're probably going to try and get Les Miles in to try and right the ship for a few years. His kid goes there and he's a Midwestern guy. I think a big name program needs a guy who can right the ship for a few years before going after the next hot young coach. I could see him taking a...
  9. Tech Substance Abuse Policy

I honestly never really thought this was as issue. So few of our guys seem to get kicked out over this, that when it happens it seems like a bigger deal than it really is. If the school wants to figure out a better way of helping SAs that are addicts (keeping them enrolled with counseling or...
  10. Pitt. @ G.T.(12:20 p.m.)

There are stipulations in the CBS contract about how each team in the SEC has to be featured at least once in a given time span, and how a team can't get more than so many featured games in a given time span etc. The SEC front office is very well run and the CBS contract gives everyone a spot at...
  11. Pitt's fanbase is INSANE

Is it that kid who was rookie of the year two years ago? I wondered what happened to him.
  12. Pitt. @ G.T.(12:20 p.m.)

That is true. The only time I remember it being a different time was the #1/#2 matchup in 2006. I remember it being dark but I don't remember if it was a 3:30 game or a night game.
  13. Pitt's fanbase is INSANE

From what I understand about his quarters system he needs really good safety play for it to work and they don't really look like they have that this year. An Air Raid team is also a really bad matchup for what his D tries to do, so the OSU game was going to be ugly for the defense regardless.
  14. Pitt. @ G.T.(12:20 p.m.)

All of their home conference games were 3:30 last year. The only noon kickoffs were their cupcakes to start the year.
  15. Pitt. @ G.T.(12:20 p.m.)

Syracuse at LSU is the only evening game with an ACC team, what a joke. I unfortunately won't be able to watch this one so I can't really complain, but I feel for everyone who is annoyed with the scheduling. I don't see why UNC-Duke couldn't be bumped to the evening and GT-Pitt take their...
  16. Pitt Panthers

Pitt is a voodoo team. Weird stuff happens when you play them. On paper we should be favorites by a lot but you never know with those guys.
  17. Targeting

Not going to comment on the first part but there are two versions. 15 yards or 15 + ejection. The ejection is determined by replay officials.
  18. Targeting

Ok, I don't have the energy to argue about a call from two years ago involving guys who aren't even on those teams anymore.
  19. Targeting

Its textbook targeting. He led with the crown. The area above his mask is literally the first thing to make contact with the head of a QB in a throwing motion. That's a good call and for the record I don't think one bad play by Gotsis cost us the game.
  20. Targeting

I should have clarified that I feel it is a good rule and well enforced. The ejection decision is based on a replay and can be reversed so you have multiple people looking at it. I also don't feel it is Draconian because I haven't seen any ejections that should not have been ejections. The rule...
