I hated the hire but CJP has done nothing but win me over to give him a chance. I didn't get to watch the St. John's game until today. I made the mistake of viewing social media and boards like this prior to viewing. I expected it to be much worse than it was.
I have some observations:
- This...
Since he says the same thing over and over I'd put the over/under at about 300 times.
He ran the high post offense through Lammers because Lammers was such a good passer. He probably mentioned that 1,000 times. He wants to run a perimeter-oriented motion offense.
CJP told anyone who was listening that we would be putting in an entirely different offensive approach. It is reasonable to expect it to take at least a month worth of games for the team to execute it efficiently. Hopefully we are almost there.
Mike DeCourcy (and Dave Gavitt) on the hysterical overreaction to NET

I actually put the NET standings in the NET thread as an update to it, rather than the NW game. The Vegas line for NW is likely to be about the same as the 7 that the kenpom has.
Here is a link to the early NET rankings. GT is at 81 and Northwestern 83.

I'm pretty sure we were playing 4 out most of the time without a high post. Pastner only ran that offense because Lammers was so good at passing. I don't think we are planning to run that offense this year or Pastner was being really deceptive in the off-season.
It is supposed to have a lot of motion and ball movement, at least that is what Pastner has been talking about. In other words, the opposite of last night.
I am telling myself to be patient since we are running a completely new offense but that was some really bad offensive execution. There was a lot of standing still and dribbling in place. It was almost Gregorian.
