Again, both Donnan and Goff were below that .700, and even Dooley only beat it by 4 total wins (which you can chalk-up to H.Walker).
Richt made Georgia the best it's ever been -- "maximized" them if you will -- and now he's in Miami
^^^This!
Richt lifted Georgia to a high level for so long that people don't even remember the TRULY mediocre Goff & Donnan years anymore. In fact I'll take it a step further and say Georgia was nothing special under Dooley either except when they had that once-in-a-lifetime talent Hershall...
Eff that! Going 6-2 vs GT is hardly a "failure" by any means, and dude it's *very rare* we get blown-out by three touchdowns. Moreover the competitiveness of those games (and similar matchups vs FSU for example) is a credit to the strong job Paul Johnson is doing at Georgia Tech. You're making...
Absolutely - Golden recognized the play and burst on the ball so fast that the blocker never had a chance. No doubt Watson would've thrown the same pick-6.
Watch the best replay at the 27:00 mark going into the 2nd quarter.
The consensus was the jury's still out on McElwain... Spurrier & Meyer better than Richt...Muschamp worse.
All agreed Zook was worse than Richt, but he banged more college chicks.
LSU was down in the 90's as was Alabama from '97 thru '06 but I see what you're trying to say.
Either way he lifted the level of the program and threatens to do the same in Miami. Hoping you're right about the differences and limitations though.
I moved down here to go to Tech in the early 90's. So for the first decade of my awareness Georgia fans always had a misplaced mindset like they were this elite level team, but typically only managed to go 7-5. The whole time I'm like where do these dwag fans get these crazy delusions of...
Oh I get it. Now that Richt is head coach in our own division, y'all want to diminish his accomplishments to feel better about our chances. I can respect that position. That's why you're adopting these ridiculous tired arguments that those ingrate Georgia fans always made over the years during...
Lol you must have been asleep in '14. That Georgia Southern game was packed. Hot noon kickoff in September, highest home attendance of the year 53128.
Here's a little late-game vid clip.
(worst camera-work of all time)
And another deluded Georgia fan? We're supposed to laugh at them here, not think like them. Richt was and is definitely a great coach. Who do you think was responsible for bringing in all that talent? Ironically Richt's recruiting success is what led to the laughable dwag fans inflated...
Didn't turn the corner??? You sound just like those deluded Georgia fans. The Dwags impending return down to the Goff/Donnan days has begun and they'll SO rue the day they sent Richt packing.
Make no mistake, Richt was the best thing to happen to UGAg football since Herchel Walker and now he's...
Everybody wants write this team off, but they can still make it. Just need to win 1 of the next 3 (@Syracuse, vs Duke, vs Miami) to stay on track. Do that and they're capable of going 9-9 in the ACC the rest of the way to earn a bid.
Yeah even South Carolina beat Vanderbilt last season. Sure they're no SC State but pretty close. It's the kind of winnable game we'll get more credit for than we should. Kinda like if we beat Georgia Southern it should be viewed better than beating Tulane last year.
Much needed W to make up for the VT loss. Now need to win just 1 out of the next 3 (@Syracuse, vs Duke, vs Miami) to keep the season on course. Oh-for-3 and we can write 'em off.
Compare this schedule to last year as far as opponents:
1) Boston College instead of FSU - way way easier.
2) Vanderbilt instead of Notre Dame - way better chance for a non-conference win (against the SEC no less).
3) Georgia Southern instead of Tulane - better winnable game.
4) Toughest...
Respectfully disagree. Lots of built-up frustration & hopelessness around here, but I see a team that looks way better than a year ago. This year ACC teams with 10 or 9 conference wins should get bids because everybody did so much better out of conference to boost RPIs. If Tech can make it to...
Does this team have a shot at a decent season and possibly an NCAA bid? At this point it's still hard to say, but these next four games in January will be very telling. Go 2-2 before the Duke game and they have a shot as the schedule gets easier. 1-3 and we can chalk-up another season in the...
