I think we have a clue on that one. We couldn't even beat the Citadel this year. However, our head football coach has been preaching since day 1, GT football will be playing at an elite level. There has been a lot of money involved and buy in by Tech fans. In six years that should be the standard.
David Cutcliffe may have had some influence in attracting Alabama to Wallace Wade. Cutcliffe's alma mater is Alabama (he did not play football) and he had coaching ties to the SEC. Wallace Wade stadium holds 39,000 fans and it was a game against an ACC team. Duke football has been around for awhile.
Elite football programs don't play in 24,000 seat stadiums. So go from MBS to Ga. State Stadium or whatever they call it. So does this mean were not going to be an elite football program in 6 years?
I agree with this. Why help Ga. State build their program with our fans. Their football stadium is the bastard child of a baseball stadium and holds 24,000 for football. Why didn't we do home and home with Georgia Southern? There it is, I've made up my mind, Todd Stansbury is a goober.
I agree with too many games on TV, plus many television replays and Youtube. Probably in ten years, larger schools will be pining for smaller stadiums. That could be a good thing.
I respect the heck out of TO. However, if he wants a chance at playing at the next level, then he needs to consider and start working out as a defensive back or transfer. Personally, I think he can still make it as a quarterback. He's a RS Junior and probably should have been the starting QB...
Interesting list. We had some walk-ons (Lay and Ryans) that got more playing time than a couple of scholarship guys. I think Howard stays and I wonder what Oliver is thinking. Off subject, does anyone know how Demetrius Knight is doing?
Once upon a time, Paul Johnson coached basketball. We'd probably recruit a bunch of smaller, fast players. I figure we wouldn't pass the ball much either, just dribble a lot and burn some clock. OK, I'd take Johnson over Pastner.
Part of Stansbury impresses me and sometimes not so much. I've been impressed how well he has been able to get people to donate, but unimpressed with drawing fans to the Tech campus. The new culture idea might work attracting students and new fans, but don't run off rest of the family.
OK. I would have to break down each play on film. You are right I'm looking at it as a fan. It was a bad year for our offense. We were shut out for the first time at home since 1957, we blew overtime against the Citadel, and the offense didn't score against Temple. I'm judging the OC by the end...
The OP wanted examples from film. Watch the games against Temple and Virginia Tech. The offense did not score. In overtime against the Citadel, the offense did not score. There was a period where our offense did not score a point for 6 quarters. No doubt about it, the offense must put points on...
Took too long to decide on a starting quarterback.
In some cases did not play to our strengths.
On short yardage, never go backwards to develop a running play.
Too many home run attempts.
Wasted using Oliver for short yardage. Oliver has a knack of falling forward when being tackled.
