We are playing better basketball for sure. But that is from a low base looking at SYR/Ball State timeframe. The question now is whether our "better" is really good enough to win games in the ACC - even against other middle of the mosh teams who generally are also getting better as the year...
Another chance to get back on track and back toward .500 in conference. Any slim hopes we have of getting through the eye of the needle to bubbly land pretty much require this win.
Jackets are playing "good" basketball and have shown they can play with the upper half of the league...
The NCAA overtly dumped the "last 10 games" stat for making the tourney and stated it is now "body of work". No brownie points for closing better.
Lots of teams play 7 - few have their starters routinely average over 35 min. Especially the backcourt.
Last night was good basketball. In...
Not a bad loss by any stretch. Just a missed opportunity for a badly needed good win.
FWIW I think both UVA and NCSU get in the tourney with a 25% or less chance of seeing the second weekend.
The elephant in the room is that Moore, Price, Sjolund, even Cole are guys who aren't gaining PT for a team that is under .500 in the ACC. If they transfer it is to a mid major at best. There is not going to be a clamor for them at other ACC/legit P5 teams. The 3 that would have any options...
The only thing I would add is that there is the ACCN which could surprise to the upside. I don't know and haven't seen any results to date but I do expect that is built in to their cash flow plans. Hopefully a good surprise is coming there.
Ivy - you are right :p Especially against UVA's pack line D you have to take and make 3 point shots. They are going to pack the paint and you won't beat them trying to drive or post in the paint. But they are open to kick outs from the paint and especially ball movement that gets to the back...
Generally against a pack line defense structure you have to make 3's to win. They take away the paint and will give you 3's against a close out - especially on the back side. Requires the ball to go inside and pass out of the double team with quick movement to the backside shooter. Hasn't...
Wow - UVA is wounded for sure right now but still not sure what to think about that line.
Reading some of Bennet's comments right now he sounds like he is coaching GT - too many TOs, not making shots, playing decent D but can't score.
As someone else said - maybe first to 40 wins
Yep - it is hard to look at a guy who was 16 and 5 in that game and think the one 3 pointer he took was the issue. I would bang on his 4 TOs more than that one 3 pointer - as much as it was undoubtedly not the shot we wanted then. To back your other point up he has only taken 8 3 pointers in...
