I agree with every word of this.
Next years team does not have even one consistent scorer returning. None! Cannot depend on true freshmen to be that consistent scorer (if he can hold all three).
A graduate transfer coming in to play that can score (Adam Smith) would help. And next year we do...
If you have a job opening that nobody wants to fill........................................
"...he did a poor job selling our program..."
You got nothing to sell. The GT basketball program is a national joke. That's why no one wanted the job.
It appears a lot of folks do not like the Pastner hire and want another coach instead. Understandable.
The problem is none of the top coaches wanted the job of head basketball coach at GT. They said NO.
Rumors - rumors that Pastner is the guy.
At Memphis he has a record of 167 - 73, .696%. Georgia Tech has never had a coach with that kind of record.
Brian Gregory...... 76 - 86 - .469
Paul Hewitt........ 190 - 162 - .540
Bobby Cremins... 354 - 237 - .599
Dwayne Morrison. 91 - 122 - .427...
I had a completely different take on the interview. Goodwin in the end says he is a Pastner supporter. And some of his problems in college he brought with him to Memphis,
or so he says. Nice story of a kid turning into a man. Based on my own experience its something that is not always easy...
If it's Pastner I can support that. Guy has a record of 167 - 73.
To me the lesson learned in the Hewitt, Gregory, New Guy deal is never give a coach a new contract just to keep him/her around. Coaches leave. Let them leave.
Hire a new coach. No coach ever won 100% of his games. No coach is...
"In just four seasons, Kelsey has resurrected the proud basketball tradition at Winthrop. After taking over a program that had won 12 and 13 games respectively the prior two seasons, Kelsey and the Eagles have won 62 games over the last three seasons. This past season the Eagles won 23 games...
I follow this closely. And I will comment on any name thrown out. But I do not believe any story that appears
anywhere that is based on "sources". Lesson learned from politics.
As I noted on another thread he is a Purdue grad, coaches at Cal, both of which are high academic institutions.
Recruiting to GT academics should not be a problem.
Not all that familiar with C.Martin so read some bio on him. Purdue grad, has the degree. And Purdue is long time member of AAU,
as is Cal his current employer. So he knows the environment. Academics should not scare him off.
Besides the college experience he has pro experience. Apparently...
"After one year with Indiana, Krzyzewski returned to West Point as head coach of the Army Cadets. He led the Cadets to a 73–59 record..."
If MBob hires a guy with a 73 - 59 record there will be a move to run him out of town on a rail.
Let's all get out our favorite scotch, have a double, and...
I have seen no evidence that GT did not offer the job to Miller or Mack. No one knows who has been contacted by GT or who has contacted GT.
The news is that there is no news. And, to be honest, I find that very troubling.
And I feel a rant coming on............!
There is today a vacancy in...
