    Our defense is awful...

I agree with most comments above, the D is really weak. It has been for most of CPJ's tenure. You hear commentators discuss how tough it is for other teams to prepare for our O because it's hard to simulate it with practice squads. I think those comments contain some truth and our D's inability...

    New play by play announcer

Ah for good ole days when those guys voices had the deep, raspy, baritone sounds that came from years of brown liquor and cigars.

Spring Practice 2016 News & Notes

Not really. I just think positive coaching comments about the team or individual players when speaking to the press / public goes much farther toward inspiring better performance. We're not or they're not; both send the same message to the players about his assessment of them.

Sick of hearing they're just not very good. Well coach, you recruited them, you and your guys coach them. If they really can't play at this level, look in the mirror! Tired of hearing CPJ say, it's them and he can't do anything about it.

When will we be able to afford....

Mbob spoke at my Rotary Club last Monday. Summary sees progress (?) in all sports despite the year to year W/L records, even big three he identified as football, basketball, and baseball. He's focused on recruiting with an eye to academic excellence at the point of admission, individual personal...

Biggest need for 2016 (offense edition)

We have BBs with leg and shoulder injuries every year . . . fullback position with tailback sized players being hammered by DT and LB gets us banged up. We need 2 or 3 guys as big as guards who run fast

CobbTech you are mostly correct. CPJ was hired to counter fan complaints about his predecessor's anemic offenses which couldn't average more than 19 points per game even with Calvin. Those teams had good to great defenses built around great D-line play, but fans complained about lack of...

    Justin?

he's 5'8", no play makers on the outside this year, and nothing but lookout blocks in the middle of the line; he's lucky to be alive

Roof needs to go and Ray is gone

Right, it is just my opinion on this opinion page. Just saying that 26 players on the roster are listed as AB(2), BB, or QB and 2 DBs work at the AB. Being 7 deep at those 4 offensive back positions uses up so much depth that is needed desperately elsewhere.

Roof needs to go and Ray is gone

CPJ puts all his effort on recruiting for his "unstoppable" offense. The athletes he starts on D are mainly those who can possibly flip to A backs or B backs when needed. He is limited on the numbers he can get so he tries to live by outscoring others. The philosophy just doesn't work in this...

Chillax everyone! Last year was an aberration, not this year. Remember all the turn overs that led to scores for us? Once in a decade kind of numbers. We really can still get to six wins this year. Get your room reservations for El Paso!

Interesting former player insight on Duke loss

Just watch the o line play on Saturday; our guys are on the ground and their guys are standing up. The are having a really hard time staying on their feet to maintain and getting the second level. The A backs are struggling with their cut blocks, too, allowing too many line backers and d ends to...
