We can spin the Pastner hire to meet our pre-hire expectations of who we thought wanted the job and we can spin the short career of the actual hire.
The one piece of info I want to se is who called MBob after the CBG firing and asked to be interviewed for the job.
Maybe the ajc can do a FOIA...
Are we gonna do another thread - Pastner-Staff - Revenge of the Nerds
Rumor is that Pastner is trying to get Obama to leave the Presidency early and become the shooting instructor at GT. Obama is discussing with his family.
What was the state of the GT basketball program on March 30, 2016? Would anyone disagree with rock bottom?
What is the state off the GT basketball program on March 30, 2020? This answer will decide CJP's future at GT as head bb coach.
Completely agree. And I had the impression that Pastner called MBob first, but I will not bet the mortgage on it. And the "guts" factor loomed big as the search matured.
I think this is an accurate portrait of where the GT program is and the impact Pastner will have on the program. I trust everyone noticed that basketball coaches were not rushing the GT stockade to take the job. GT had a job few wanted.

"Q: Would you run through a brick wall for him?
A: I'd run through a brick wall for...
"This all in an environment and league that is far less competitive than the ACC." (Referring to Pastner and Memphis)
There is no league as competitive as the ACC.
I believe this is a good solid hire with much upside. If CoachP does what he says he will do in the press conference, GT basketball is on the upswing.
My bride of 46 years is in the other room watching the Judy Garland version of "The Wizard of Oz".
If I may quote Dorothy:

The point he made that imprinted on me the most was that evaluating talent is the key to success. Evaluating more important than stars.
Bottom line, this guy can sell ice in Alaska.
Works hard. Bachelors and masters in 4 years at Arizona. Took over 30 hours a semester on occasion.
"...Capel was the better choice..."
Coach K would have been the better choice. Jay Wright? But, like asking a girl to marry you, you gotta find someone who will say yes.
Tech's problem is nobody wanted to marry them.
