    12/5 - MBB vs U(sic)GA

I guess we were ranked low enough that the loss knocked them out of Q1 ;)

GT vs UCF - Gasparilla Bowl (was GT vs Troy - Birmingham Bowl)

Duke played UCF last bowl season, so they switched us with Duke. We get UCF and Duke plays Troy in Birmingham

If UGA beats Bama, would FSU be in? Is there even a “crisis” for the committee? The general consensus is that it would have been UGA, Michigan, Washington, and FSU, with Texas on the outside looking in

Would they have accepted a UGA , Mich, Wash, FSU set of matchups? If so, it’s not about the QB.

“best” means “the four teams the committee can justify and wants to justify“. Its not “best” in the same sense most people would use the word. This is a “we might be willing to let a G5 team in occasionally, but we’ll never leave the SEC out” proof point. If UGA had won, FSU would be in the CFP

Through most of the stat measures, yes. The NFL doesn’t pick the best teams for the playoffs—none of the pro leagues have that standard—but they’re up front about how to qualify. The CFP is more vague and arbitrary One argument against using the best four is “wins matter”, but booting out FSU...

With their backup QB, and then their backup to their backup, they did better than some top 10 teams did against the same competition.

That's not the reason--that's the excuse, or the PR. If Michigan's QB was out and they still beat Ohio State, would they be in? (yes). More analysis, by someone else:

First, I'd like to second RamblinRed's hat tip to the people who said "no way is the SEC getting left out". You were proven right. Second, it's clear that there are no strong CFP committee criteria--or if there are, they're secret. It is just a big TV show and not a playoff. Third, the only...

Transfer Portal: Who do we need to target this offseason?

DJU is tentatively in the NFL draft. I think he really has one more year in CFB, then his career is over—maybe he moves to another position. If I was a scout, I’d ask “he’s only done well with the one coach—is it the coach or is it DJ?”.

Transfer Portal: Who do we need to target this offseason?

A couple of those QBs lost their coaches, including DJU. Tyler Van Dyke was probably pushed to transfer. Agree that the system gives the Wild West a bad name, but some of them have extenuating circumstances

We had objective criteria for the BCS—a combination of human and computer polls. Some people didn’t like the outcomes, so they moved it to a committee with far less transparency. They let a committee meet and make the decisions. They can change the criteria to get the outcome they want, and...

    Bowl Projections & Rumors

Something similar could have happened if Louisville had won. We had to have a contingency plan for that. I think dealing with the payouts and the insult was a big task. The conference just got their income slashed

That split happened for the ivies and for d-3 a long time ago. Big leagues don’t happen without some coordination-mlb draft, revenue sharing, etc. There’s no agreement to make a P5 work. This is going to be ugly, and I don’t expect Congress to help.
